Does anyone know of any M P H action going on in OZ? It has all been so quiet since LIVE8 and not even the ArmBands are available here!It would be great to join in on SEPT 10,but lack of knowledge is followed by lack of action. It is a shame ,when so many in OZ signed up with the cause, to have nothing to do next.

For some strange and very peculiar reason Australia seems to have fallen off the map in regard to such things. I'm glad you were involved in Live8; I've assumed that the vast majority of Australians were oblivious to the goings-on around the rest of the world, let alone their purpose.
As you so rightly state, "lack of knowledge is followed by lack of action", for how can there be any action if there is no awareness? I have a great belief that knowledge empowers, and I cannot understand at all why most Australians were left ignorant, and therefore disempowered, with regards to Live8 and the MPH campaign.
If awareness was the goal of Live8 and MPH, Australia simply didn't stand a chance.
there was no concert anywhere in Australia (c'mon, we've got some great muso's!)
there was no free-to-air LIVE coverage of anything, anywhere, anytime
live television coverage was restricted to the 6% of the population who subscribe to Foxtel
live internet streaming was only available to less than 16% of households with a broadband connection
there was little, if any, information in newspapers
there was basically no information in any TV news prior to the event;and minimal coverage afterwards
there was minimal information about the MPH campaign, other than from the internet - which necessarily meant finding out about it somewhere else
there was nowhere to buy the white wristbands that were symbolic of the MPH camgain
And now another event to highlight the issue of poverty (and to maintain pressure on the UN) is occurring. But no information. And no wristbands. Sure, they are available online at the MPH website (though the shipping rates *might* outweigh the 1 pound price/donation, and there's no time for delivery now anyway), but I would wager that only a handful of Australians would even know about the White Band Day.
It may be that MPH is a regional campaign restricted to the UK, and that White Band Day is intended only for those in the UK. This would explain the lack of both information and provision of the white bands, although the association of Live8 and MPH (including adding your name to the list) suggested a more global approach. I guess that's just another example of ignorance borne out of a lack of information originating with Live8.
Perhaps White Band Day '06 could be extended to include eager participants from Australia, but Australia will never get the chance to be truly part of Live8.
