In the UK I think he wisely stays out of party politics- a sort of neutrality. If he was seen to support either the Tories or Labour it would make him unacceptable to the other side.
In Irish politics it was the same. Banana Republic was a sideways swipe at the IRA who in the seventies and early eighties plunged the island of Ireland into utter despair with their brand of socialist republicanism at the barrel of a gun. Its a wonder the didn't place him of their hit list.
So Geldof keeps his mouth shut about his personal political views as regards party support. I wonder does he vote Cons Lab or Lib Dem when hes in the privacy of the polling booth?
I've heard him say that there is no party that fits his politics. Having said that he would no doubt consider it wise to be diplomatic in order to work with all parties on the issues important to him.

Like the old Marks brothers quip Bob would not like to belong to any party that would have him as a member.
Theres no party that fits my politics either although i am becoming a member of the socialist party and asked beforehand if they would accept my membership even though i kind of disagreed with them about the way to a socialism and how one gets there but principles could be the same.....in a way.....the comrades said it was cool and that they invited debate and discussion so that was good. I have joined cos i admire their dedication and commitment to their beliefs and the fact that they get off their arse and fight for their beliefs and what they believe is a way towards a fairer society.....
I voted lib dems this time round, how stupid was that??
I just will not vote for anyone now.
I understand if Bob remains publicly unattched to any party and understand if he aims to get all parites on side. Its kind of what i think would need to happen with my ideas too, would need to be taken on by all parties.
I kind of see a society in which socialism and capitalism work for eachother rather than against where we can all be harmonious about politics.
Found this essay written by Keynes, really what i think too and i have already posted on this site how i think we could move gradually towards national self sufficiency (by government starting supermarkets that are ethical; in other words locally produced stuff)
This is part of the essay:
I sympathise, therefore, with those who would minimise, rather than with those who would maximise, economic entanglement between nations. Ideas, knowledge, art, hospitality, travel - these are the things which should of their nature be international. But let goods be homespun whenever it is reasonably and conveniently possible; and, above all, let finance be primarily national. Yet, at the same time, those who seek to disembarrass a country of its entanglements should be very slow and wary. It should not be a matter of tearing up roots but of slowly training a plant to grow in a different direction.
For these strong reasons, therefore, I am inclined to the belief that, after the transition is accomplished, a greater measure of national self-sufficiency and economic isolation between countries than existed in 1914 may tend to serve the cause of peace, rather than otherwise. At any rate the age of economic internationalism was not particularly successful in avoiding war; and if its friends retort that the imperfection of its success never gave it a fair chance, it is reasonable to point out that a greater success is scarcely probable in the coming years.
How things have changed. Now he is a vocal Remainer who pitched up to help the Lib Dems win the last by election.
I do wish he had not said Brexiters were all on crystal meth though. You would think he would steer clear of even jocular references to drugs that bring misery and death to families. Brush up on the lyrics to Dave and then maybe we can hear a 'new' song too at the 2017 gigs .
...then maybe we can hear a 'new' song too at the 2017 gigs.
Will anyone have them? Doesn't look like any prospect of mainland Britain gigs and festival organisers will probably give them a wide berth post-Brentwood. I suspect that if I want to see them in 2017 I will have to get the mailboat to the piery in Dun Loaghaire.

There's some festival organisers taking a chance we can see with the passage of time, but I don't want to be shouted at from the stage about my 'Brexit mistake' and neither do hundreds of others I suspect. He can rant about my clothes if he wants, but since I tend to wear a Rats t shirt it would be counter productive.
