Maybe he's tired of being wheeled on to do I Don't Like Mondays. Interestingly Bono dedicated one of U2s songs to Michael Hutchence who was a friend of Bono's seemingly, at the Sydney gig.
Bobs proper concert is at Star City on Thursday night 16 December so hopefully his music will have gotten through to a few souls down under and they will get to see Geldof headline his own gig. He'll have to get his tonsils around his new songs so Sydney might be the place to start.
Its been a power celeb week in Sydney with U2, Bon Jovi, Bob Geldof and Oprah!
Tonight Bob and Band perform at a private special functyion at Star City.
Tomorrow night is the Bob Geldof - One Night Only show. Today he was interviewed on Aussie TV and they showed a bit of the brand new music video for his new single. it sounds AWESOME!!!
Hope Bob doesn't try to abseil into the venue like Hugh Jackman did yesterday narrowly avoiding major injury or worse. Oprah is lucky not to be dealing with the death of an actor.
Amazing for two reasons. Firstly Bob was very ill with the flu but carried on with the show being a trooper. Secondly, it was a fun great gig and Bob and the band were in fine form. The setlist was pretty standard but awesome and enjoyable nonetheless. Starting with Indifference, Love Or Something etc... I really enjoyed the Sex Age & Death songs tonight. Mudslide and One For Me really have their own life live in concert these days. No new material... but hoping we get more aussie shopws next year after the Cd is out. Can confirm, along with post above, that there is a music video for Pretty Silly Things.
Thanks for the quickie review and photos Danny. Wonder how Geldof's voice sounded with the flu?
Slightly strange that he hasn't played any new material - it was the same when he played in Belgium though I think he did play one song according to Scottie.
Does it mean he doesn't like the new stuff or is it that he feels its better to play songs the audience are familiar with already. I would have though a sprinkling of new songs would have added some zest for his own sake just to avoid over familiarity.
Wonder what sort of audience turned up and in what numbers?
GREAT photos Danny!!!! Glad you enjoyed the gig! When he played here in 2005 he was also sick and kept apologising but he sounded great and I told him so after the concert!

Glad you enjoyed it. He always seems to perform well under adversity. He did sing 2 in Belgium "Here's To You" and "Dazzled by You". He may have done a 3rd in Bruges, but dont know.
I did not realise it was that bad that he had been hospitalised. His music means a lot to him.
Neither did I! Get well soon Bob xxxxxxxxxxxxxx I know how he feels. Music is my life. I went to a concert with torn cartilege in my knee in agony once and with a severe virus another time. It was take a massive family emergency or death for me to miss my music.

Well, this year he has done a gig 2 days after his siter died, one on the day of her funeral and one when he probably went against doctor's orders. Hope this puts to bed the stories that he does not bother about his fans. This year he has most definitely put them first.
RE- the new video- Imagine the converstion around a few dinner tables. " You will never guess who I saw today, as I was driving home. Bob Geldof in a field jumping up and down on a trampoline and a half dressed tramp (sorry Vince), playing the violin" Yes dear, been to the pub again? or I'll ring the doctor first thing in the morning.

Just saw the brief clip from Oz tv. It was like an outtake from Wurzel Gummidge with the hay fields. Just missing was Wurzels Sauncy Nancy.
Does anyone know if the single will be available on Youtube to watch as an album sampler. Isn't that how they do it these days. It will be interesting the number of hits the song gets over the next few months but always ignore those Youtube commentaries which always seem cantankerous no matter what subject the Youtube video is about!
Bob on a trampoline. Isn't that a bit dangerous especially for a six footer. Hope it was a man sized trampoline rather than a kiddies version!
Rather than being leaked on the Internet Bobs new opus is being drip fed- we get to hear about ten seconds of the song. Wonder when this single is being released digitally or otherwise?
The guys got back to Heathrow just before it closed. More than can be said for poor Jules, still stuck in NYC. She should have been home at the weekend. Danny, is it OK if I uses some of your pics, if I credit them to you? I wont be offended if you say no.

Hi all
I got back late last night (well afternoon, but had to say that) after a 4 day ordeal, 2 flight cancellations and a nightmare. Hope Bob didn't have any traumas like us. Sure he wouldn't have to put up a fight to get accommodation from his airline.

Sorry about your ordeal. I think if Bob needs to get anywhere in a hurry he can hire a private plane or ask Richard Branson.
Doubt if he'll ever be spending the night wrapped in tin foil blankets and having a fiver to get a sandwich if he's lucky.
I suppose if he's really stuck he could call one of his celebrity friends and have a spare suite of rooms in their mansion.
Looking forward to the album in February nonetheless!
