Wonder will the forum get many new members or people joining in the debate after Bob releases his new album in February. It is after all a big event!
hopefully some of the more casual fans will post their views on the album so we get a rounded view. Interesting as well where this album fits in in Geldofs solo career. I list my personal ranking below in order of greatness- will the new album rank one two three etc.
Noels faves 1 Sex Age Death 2 Vegetarians of Love 3 Deep In the Heart Of Nowhere 4 The Happy Club
So how will How To Compose do in the personal table?

Unless there is a lot of press and publicity around the album I doubt there will be much impact. Last time there was a lot of new members/activity was Live 8. I suspect some people may look in and have some comment on the record.

Welcome back ArrGee and happy Christmas.
I just wonder what would make someone go out and buy the new album or else download some of the tracks- I'm talking about ordinary people not "fanatics" or slight obsessives. Every band or act has them.!
Why would they choose Geldof over any number of other acts that will have albums out in the new year?.
One or two good singles in advance of the album is the normal way to go. Call me deluded but I like to think if Bob had two really good singles then the songs would speak for themselves as it were. Of course the songs would need airplay and some appearances on chat shows radio stations etc.
Anyway the album should be decent- keep almost laughing when I see those ads on Irish tv for Michael Buble- Geldof at least doesn't court popularity like him.
Read somewhere that spotify pays peanuts to their roster of acts barely keeping them in coffee!

These days I only tend to buy albums when they are really cheap (Springsteen collection for £13 @ HMV with 8CDs!). I suspect you would download if you hear a song you like but don't care about the LP as a whole. However having only paid for two downloads in my life, both accidents on the phone, I am speculating.
I don't know why anyone would buy a Geldof album who hadn't got some of his previous work, and even then I think the pool is small. He could make some TV appearances and even play a high profile festival to generate interest. A really strong track allied to a movie or advertisement would generate sales.
