I've just been browsing eBay (Geldof) as you do and spotted three lots of tix for the Wimbledon concert on 3 December. As we know it isn't going ahead. There might be some unsuspecting people buying these tickets should I say something to the sellers? What does anyone think? Seems a bit rough selling them on... I'm waiting to get a refund for mine.
It's not fake it was just never confirmed and Wimbledon went ahead and sold the tix anyway. I wonder if the seller will collect their refund from Wimbledon and also the sale price and not refund anything to the buyer?
I've emailed the seller way back when it still wasn't confirmed that the show was cancelled, and he said he would give full refund in that case. I did tell him at that point that the I had it from a good source that show was not likely to happen, but I didn't write back to confirm.
In his answer it wasn't clear if he would refund the shipping charges, which are, by the way, higher in the UK than anywhere else in the world.
My guess is he know the show is cancelled, but he's still selling the tickets in the hopes that some buyers will not bother to ask for a refund.
the Wimbledon website still lists the show, as does ticketmaster and a bunch of other sources. Has anyone contacted the Wimbledon box office? I'd call myself, but don't want to pay for an overseas phone call should they not have any info yet.
I called themm before I went on holiday and they knew nothing about it being 'cancelled' (if that is the right word as it was never actually confirmed) and said they would get in touch as soon as they knew anything. Although the tix are listed for sale if you try to buy them you get a message saying 'not for sale' or similar. I'm considering reporting them to eBay but it is a bit difficult until I get word from Wimbledon themselves. I just feel badly for anyone who might buy them!!
Yes, it is confusing! The website still has the concert listed but you cannot buy tickets. The AI tickets guy said he has not heard it is not confirmed! A1 is the ebay site that continues to sell the tickets. I have asked A1 for a refund - they will not return s/h fee - but will give me a ticket refund to my credit card. I did not ask him why he was still selling tickets, as this was before I knew that. Credit card has not been credited yet - after one week. Will let you know what happens!
I also got tix through A1, and was waiting to see what happens before I contacted them. Now I see that ticketmaster does have the show listed as cancelled. BUT the Wimbledon site still lists the show..What gives?..... Still don't understand how they could be selling tix for a show that was never confirmed....... I've already planned my yearly trip to London, and unfortunately will be returning before Shepards Bush... OK, so now the overnight trip to Gateshead is on!!!!
The Wimbledon ticket situation just proves that board members should have a little more faith in what we say on the official site. We did try to tell you on numerous ocassions, but various people thought it was best to go ahead anyway.
We understand the frustration and urgency to secure tickets, but do not in future take note of any other websites information. As we have said before if it isn't on the official site, then it isn't happening. A perfect example of mis-information is on boomtownrats.co.uk If you look at the tour section, you will see there is one date listed Friday 2nd December at the Muni Theatre, Pendle, Lancashire. This show was never happening. It was never confirmed. There is no way that the webmaster of boomtownrats.co.uk received official notification of this. Although I remember seeing a news items somewhere on the web incorrectly claiming this show was on.
We are in contact with Bob's tour manager on a daily basis. So we do know what is up to date and what isn't happening. We are the first to know, believe it.
