Really good performance. Sounds more emotional live than the recorded version.
Not sure about the guy with the Abe Lincoln beard. I know its comic relief week but is this guy not distracting from the seriousness of the music with the silly beard.
I promise you the beard is not Vince's idea. He is only following orders. Supposed to be a tribute to The Dubliners. I call him Hagrid or Rasputin. Will somebody please tell Bob it does not work.
Don't mean to take it too seriously but surely when the band appear of tv you don't want to end up being distracted by a guy in a funny beard- you want to concentrate on the song. When Bobs band played on the Late Late Show a few weeks back again I though the silly facial hair make the whole thing appear as a joke- this becomes the talking point rather than the music.
Lettermans comment to Vince about keeping away from naked flames however was quite funny. Its a good job smoking is banned at live gigs otherwise we might have a serious incident with a musician going up in flames.
PS Slogging through those Geldof interviews- it can be hard work but thanks for posting them Scottie.
