Don't you just wish we could sit Bob down and let him talk for at least an hour on just The Boomtown Rats?
Hardly anything was said about the band and after the Band Aid stuff was discussed at length suddenly it was on to his first solo record, nothing about the break up of one of Irelands finest acts.
I suppose you could say that not many would want to hear something soley on the Rats but wouldn't it be great one day if some interviewer would say 'sorry Bob we don't want to hear about the Live/Band Aid stuff just tell us about your music career?
Haven't heard this interview due to the surfeit of earlier interviews a few months ago. The Boomtown Rats were the best band ever to come out of Ireland, partly because the didn't make a big deal of being Irish, unlike U2.
I find the interviews with Bob to be very repetitive, almost like a script where Geldof repeats the same phrases to different interviewers. The same old stuff about Live Aid. To be fair, especially in written newspaper or music press interviews he touches on the Boomtown Rats a lot- but never is asked, or states voluntarily, whether he would ever play with the original band again.
He can be very controlling. Won't talk about his daughters, but decides to suddenly open up about Paula Yates after years of silence. Looking at various newspaper comments from readers it seems there are loads of cynics out there seeing Geldof as someone who has made a career out of the famine situation in Africa, and is personally very wealthy. They wonder is he suddenly looking for sympathy in relation to Paula?
Why doesn't someone ask his favourite ten movies, or favourite novels, or holiday destinations or brand of tootpaste or favourite airline? Most tv/radio interviews are really lazy and unimaginative in my opinion. Johnathan Ross can be fairly leftfield. Or Danny Baker can be very good as well.
I'm getting ready to send in my information so I can interview him! I would love to know which side of the bed he sleeps on, what a typical day is like, how does he get his protein in his veg diet, where he goes for vacations, when he will get back for a reunion with TBTR, etc.!

It can get a bit boring for Geldof to keep going over the same ground [Live Aid, The Boomtown Rats] and in all seriousness I'd like to know his ten favourite movies or his ten favourite novels. Does he do his own shopping in Waitrose or does he have a servant to do it for him! Does he drink alcohol often eg once a week, does he go to the pub for a pint. Is he recognised everywhere he goes [Most likely in UK/Ireland/ Europe]
What's his favourite sport? His top city breaks or countries he admires. What makes him laugh?

Is he really vegetarian? I didn't know that - wow I have something in common with him!
Bit concerned that drinking alcohol once a week counts as often - got the impression from a recent health check that 30 units a week is a bit OTT and could possible reduce a little - but not sure I could only manage once a week Maybe could convince everybody there's lots of protein in alcohol .........
