Trawling through YouTube I found a recently posted video of the Boomtown Rats miming/performing Never In A Million Years from Autumn 1981.
This is the first time I've ever seen this, so its great to know that these clips are there in the archives, waiting to be dug out. Geldof could have been a bit more lively in this, and Garry and Pete seem to be in quite high spirits throughout. Bob seems a bit moody.
This has only been viewed twenty times so far, so other forum fans may not have seen this before.
My links never seem to work-anyone interested can just go to Youtube and search under Boomtown Rats Never In A Million Years and it should come up under the official video for the song.
Hope someone can provide a link as the video is a bit hard to find and keep coming up under different searches.
Laibach, try this Go to Youtube site and click on the purple coloured Youtube Broadcast Yourself- the black and red coloured youtube search engine then comes up and just type in Boomtown Rats Never In A Million Years.
Yesterday it came up immediately. The video was uploaded by someone called MultiVetzak who has uploaded dozens of brilliant videos and tv appearances from Dutch tv over the years.
I did that but just got the promo video. I typed in multiVetzak and went through all his videos but couldn't see it, I've been through all the Boomtown Rats videos but no sign, so I'm not sure why I can't find it.
Did you click on the blue/purple Youtube Broadcast Yourself which then takes you into the red/black coloured search tabs, and then put in the title.
Maybe you entered the song title in the box underneath ie the blue coloured box? It shows a pic of Bob in a checked shirt and says Dutch tv 1981 optimum quality.
I think I might have to just wait until someone can provide a link, where is the blue purple Youtube Broadcast Yourself?, when I go to the youtube broadcast yourself page I just see the red/black search engine.
The Youtube broadcast yoursef is underlined, just click on the underlined bit and then you go into the red/black search engine. Then just enter the band name and song.
If not hopefully someone can provide the link. I think the video is worth seeing, as Bob gropes with a mannequin in the shadows at the start of the video. It has a certain comic quality and he reclines like Cleopatra at the end with an Egyptian statue looking over him at the end.
I can't find anything on my You tube broadcast page that is underlined, I just have the red/black search engine which when I type in the band name and song brings up a number of pages with the promo video. If you can find that page and I can't could you copy and paste the address of the page onto this thread?, I'm bit of a novice on computers so maybe I'm missing something but I've tried everything I can think of and can't find it.
You're saying its not available in the Uk? Pity. Anyway I think I've sorted out the links thing so will link to another Rats related thing and see if that works.
Great, thanks for letting me know the links work. I must have been doing something wrong as before the links would never work. You just highlight the video address, then press control C- then go to the page you wish to paste to and press control V. Then submit post.
The link will be active after the post has been submitted. You should try linking to a video. I'll let you know if its working!
