err, I must be a sad git as well.  I like Belinda Carlisle and The Go-Gos.  Our Lips Are Sealed is a superb song.  Only better girl band I can think of were the Bangles.

I must be a sad git too as I like The Go Go's, Our Lips Are Sealed is excellent and the Funboy Three and Bananarama did a great cover version. I was going to say who can forget the Go Go's classic I'm Gonna Spend Christmas With A Dalek but it turned out to be another band from the 60's with the same name.

I prefer the Fun Boy Three version of Our lips Are Sealed. The Go Go's version is a bit too chirpy or at least the live versions I've heard are.

Love Terry Hall's laconic stage manner. He was most likely a very shy guy who had to force himself to sing and perform. This is a great performance from Swich in 1983

An old school friend got in touch recently and recounted how she had seen Terry Hall years ago and wasn't impressed.

"I saw Terry Hall (singer with the specials) playing with The Colourfield (his band after the Funboy 3) when I was at uni & any stray strands of a crush completely disappeared - he was vile, really, really rude to the audience"

Just glad the Rats are friendly

Do you remember Shakespears Sister? They were good!

I have been a lifelong fan of pop music in general so music is always there in the background, Shakespears Sister included, along with countless other famous and long forgotten acts over the years.

I don't know too much about Terry Hall's personality apart from the fact that he often seemed quite morose and withdrawn, but I always though it was just stage fright and self consciousness. Who knows what sort of things were going on at the Uni gig, maybe the band had been on the road for weeks without a break? Not a good idea for any fan to have a crush on a pop singer- it normally ends in tears.

Bob Geldof particularly, back in the seventies, could be a bit moody and sarcastic, often picking on people in the audience and giving them a dose of his 'wit'. He's a bit more avuncular these days.

Another one here. Great interview with Graham Norton on Saturday gone. Loved the Go Go's and We want the same thing/Leave a light on era.

New single ok but won't trouble the charts.
