Also need to decide where my money's best spent between Stone Roses and Steps
Ah, I'm sure you'll go to see Steps. I bet you know all the dances.
Apparently they are number one in the album charts with The Ultimate Collection.
And due to the overwhelming response to The Ultimate Tour, Steps have announced extra dates....
Fortunately, apart from Tragedy (which lived up to its name), I have had the good fortune to not see nor hear them very much. Reading about them is enough.
Tickets on sale for both iconic acts on sale this Friday at 9am.
Just a few weeks ago I was listening to the double cd Stone Roses greatest hits and very good it sounded too. The fact that they can sell out all the gigs in 15 minutes speaks for itself, so good luck to them.
Ian Brown's solo work in general is pretty good. The reunion, of course comes, with the proviso that everyone is twenty years older and all that that brings.
For the last couple of weeks I've been listening to a lot of Steely Dan and they started out in 1972 and stopped playing live in the late 1970's, continuing as a studio band.
They made a live comeback around the mid nineties making their hiatus from live performance one of the longest in rock history.

Yep. Thought there is a bit of a proviso on the speed of the sale. A lot of tickets have been put up for sale on sites like seatwave & viagogo, and prices have been dropping as days have gone by now people realise there are close to a quarter of a million tickets for the gigs. It's a common story for many gigs with speculators snapping up the best tickets for resale. Still I should be grateful, that's how I got my front row Geldof seats the day before the gig
The seem to be swanning around Europe in a lot of trendy cities on their 2012 tour but have forgotten Blackpool, which is associated with the Roses in the way that Leeds might be associated with The Who.
The is a prospective gig for Slane Castle which normally attracts a huge attendence of 60,000 plus- way to big a gig for me to be interested in.
They won't have too much work to do if judging by Ian Brown playing I Wanna Be Adored at Glastonbury- the crowd largely singing the song like a football crowd 'sucking' the ball into the goal.

(Oh and a proper Boomtown Rats reunion would be nice)
So just The Smiths and Oasis left now. Pretty much every act I like whose members are mostly living are out there recording or touring. And some with no original members at all, like Dr. Feelgood.
Of course Noel and Liam Gallagher will get back together at some stage and milk their fans for more money. At least the Rats were apart for 27 years so it is a genuine reunion/reformation rather than an Oasis pretend style dispute.
Oasis will reunite and I suspect The Smiths will too at some stage. The former is more likely. Some bands it seems want to preserve their image as ageless and youthful, while others just realise that everyone ages and are less concerned about image. The Stones have grown old disgracefully- whether that's a good or a bad thing is open to debate.
