Have just discovered the Rats performing Someones Looking At You, I think on TOTP. Pretty decent studio bound video and great to see it emerge afterf all this time. This comes in the 'lost video' category.
This is the video that Mark L of this forum said he had on videotape- someone has done the job of conversion and uploading. Not sure how the did the long haired Bob, Short haired Bob bit but good video nonetheless. Geldof does a warm up for The Wall, acting all paranoid and cutting his plastic coat up. Much prefer this to the kenny Everett video- the visuals are more in keeping with the subject matter.
Yes, great to see it uploaded Noel, I am such a technophobe, I'm not sure when I would have been able to do it. This performance saw it rise from 8 to 4, the version I have is from 2 weeks prior, when Mike Read announced it as a 'breaker just outside the 40 at 45 this week'
It is a superb performance and classic Boomtown Rats with one of their best ever singles. The absence of a studio audience seems odd, but then there was more to this than just an standard TOTP studio performance
Signal Cheshire have just played Elephants Gravy yard and The Tymes - You little crustmaker - this is apparently part of National Pie Day......groan!

Yes, certainly short-hair makes him look just like he does when playing Pink in the Wall - only with eyebrows which is a better look!
Interesting that Simon is wearing a smart suit rather than the combat gear the others are wearing - very cool. Actually I know a joke about drummers and suits - but, there again maybe not ..........
Perhaps Alan Parker had seen this Someones Looking At You video and thought Geldof looked the part. The Someones Looking video pre dates The Wall movie by two years.
What then remains to be answered is who decided on the cropped hair look for Bob in the song video and the paranoid behaviour? Not sure who directed the Someones Looking video but certainly it contributed to Geldof's part in The Wall seeing that the 'look' was how Pink would be personified in that film.
Wonder if Bob had undergone a cropped hair phase in the Rats what would the music have sounded like? It certainly was an interesting look that suggests some interesting songs.
