Jules wrote: Hi MissJessica and welcome. I shall be at Colston Hall too What seats do you have? We have A20 and 21 or 19 and 20 something like that!
He's amazing you're in for a real treat.
We have G3 and G4 as far as I know! I'm really excited, probably the closest I'll get to meeting him unlike some of you lucky people! Although I'd have no idea what to say to him!
Anyway, hello everyone! Thankyou for the warm welcome
I'll try and look around to where you are. It's best to think of something to say in advance otherwise nerves get the better of you (well they do me). Even then I was tongue-tied!! He's quite chatty and friendly and does his best to put you at ease.
Hehe well I don't expect to get the chance to meet him, but I will try to think of something if I do! I think just going to one of his concerts will be amazing, to be surrounded by other fans.. I don't personally know any other than myself!
I suppose it is strange being a fan at 17 - well my Dad thinks so, after hearing it all when it first came out!
I suppose it is strange being a fan at 17 - well my Dad thinks so, after hearing it all when it first came out! you're probably right, there aren't thousands and thousands of teenage geldof-fans around...but we've got a few (actually, which agegroup is in majority?) here on the forum, you're in good company

Phew! Argee hasn't found this thread then yet. You're all gonna be in big trouble when he finds it though! Note the Closed one in the Bob Geldof catagorie - Chill Argee, were you having a bad hair day? You can't ORDER people to answer questions how YOU see fit - just answer them yourself! No hard feelings, just my opinion...... Please don't ban me- well whatever....you can always Edit this out, can't you. -- Edited by ponchus pilot at 11:17, 2006-01-14
I made this thread sticky long ago, so that you could welcome whomever you like.
What I object to is that there are a couple of posters who persist in posting 'welcome' as a one word post whenever anyone new appears in any thread whatsoever.
Fine, welcome new posters here. It's just that if everyone did it each time a new poster appeared, there'd be 500 one line posts following it.
And I have only ever banned two or three posters in the year and for far more serious offences than welcomes. I just wrote they will be banished to Geldof hell. That's something else
No hard feelings, just my opinion...... Please don't ban me- well whatever....you can always Edit this out, can't you.
No hard feelings whatsoever, your opinion is valid, and I wouldn't ban you for disagreeing with me. You have never given me cause to edit any of your posts, and you are one of those whose posts are well worth reading.
As for the editing, I try not to, but I have edited a number of posts and I always give a reason in italics within the post. If there are occasions where I have edited without reason, it is just an omission. And if I have edited and you disagree, send me a PM.
hi yep i'm cazzy (thanks for mentioning me ,tango) i think i'm youngest, i was 13 when i joined, 14 now but i think i'm younger than abigail and tango so niave.... young enough "not to notice" stories about my hero and women in a concorde loo
Hello, My name is Roz, I'm a Mum of two grown up boys.I live in the North West UK and have been a fan of Bob Geldof for more years than I care to mention, although I have to say I've not seen him live. I'm always listening to music, I like anything from the 50's to the present day.

Hi, Roz, nice to see you. I am known as Scottie here, but Irene on myspace. Jules, Debs, (dam9191), and Reka also have pages on myspace. Think you will enjoy it here.
Hi and Thank you for the welcome, it's going to take me a long time to read everything on this forum but I'll gradually work my way through it.
It's good to know some Myspace friends are already here, I can see I'll have to get myself a photograph taken with Bob.... do you know if he likes squirrels ?

Hello, I'm Tsarina, I'm from the United States, Iowa to be exact. I have been a huge Geldof fan for 25 years. I think I've registered here before but never posted anything. I started a myspace tribute page for Geldof, here is the link: myspace.com/bobgeldoftribute-- Edited by Tsarina at 18:43, 2007-06-14

Hi, not Irene but I can guide you. Under Bob Geldof section you'll find Sex on Legs thread and various others. Lots of lovely pictures in that section! Just have a good hunt round.
Hallo! My name is Justyna, I'm from Poland. I've taken fancy of Bob Geldof 25 years ago and still I'm his big fan. In 80 was a plan that Rats came to Poland, but they didn't. I don't know why, maybe because of politics. It was strange time. I sow HIM in TV and couldn't sleep all night (hihihihihi...). Now, I'm lost in admiration to him as a person.
I have an absolutely bored job (I'm a clerk) and ramarkably unusual teenage son.
I saw Bob's gig in Berlin. It was great. Wow!!
I would like to wish you all the Best in New Year with lot of surprices and good news of our IDOL!!
HAPPY NEW 2008 YEAR!!!

Hi Guys !!! I'm a Brazilian fan... I NEVER found any Brazilians fans... My english is not ok, but I'd like to enjoy the Forum!! I really love to find Geldof and Rats' fans!! I don't know how to use the Forum now, because in Brazil it is REALLY different... I'll try and start reading the rules now!!!
Hi, everyone - I'm Clare and I'm in Felixstowe. I've liked the Rats since childhood but never saw them live until they appeared in Norwich last October...I also saw them on Friday at the Chilfest. Now waiting for the Cambridge gig and it can't come quickly enough for me!
I'm also bored to death of the music which dominates the charts and seems to get all the airplay.

Welcome. There will be at least a couple of us from the forum at Cambridge, so might see you there. Just need to find a pub near the venue. I have to try and get there a bit earlier. I think the only pre-gig forum meet up I ever made was in Cork, and even then, by the time I turned up most people has headed off to the venue.

Thanks, ArrGee. Don't know what time I'm going yet - fingers crossed the car parking will be as civilized as it was in Norwich. It's great being able to drive to a gig AND park near it, free.
Hiya!! I'm Louise, I'm a new'ish' fan. I first saw the mighty Bob in 1995 when he came onstage at a Bon Jovi gig, I bought Loudmouth the week after! but nothing since
... Until this year that is, I booked tickets for Guilfest just to see them and they blew me away! :) I have been listening to them solidly since and was front row at the Forum on Friday - another amazing gig and I'm now totally in Love with Bob!! haha <3 <3
My real name is Tom. I have Me and Howard Hughes in a playlist on my PC and noticed that I keep cueing it up. It really is a beautiful song with that guitar solo, bit of vibraslap, a catchy melody like Elvis and totally wacky lyrics. Howard Hughes made some bizarre headlines when I was a teenager. My classmate did an extensive current events report on him. I wish I could have owned an aircraft company and made movies.
Anyway, Tonic for the Troops was a real treat. I still remember buying at the record store on campus in Indiana in 1980. There was a "college radio" culture back then and a few lucky kids got to be DJs. We even had radio stations in our dorms. My roommate thought the little girl's quizzical "Are you really going out with Adolph?" was a hoot. So, before 80s were up, I bought all their LPs released in America.
One of my favorite memories of Bob was a news clip of him giving Thatcher some lip when they crossed paths at a party with the cameras rolling. Then there was the moment in the theater watching The Wall and saying, hey that's him !!! He was Pink. That album was one of my all time favs. I must have listened to my tape of The Wall a hundred times. Those songs were depressing, but his revelation that Pink wanted to be a fascist leader still resonates--I am in America and the politics is getting bad. I took officer training in my youth. Years later, I realize I was looking for power and respect. Now I am a borderline hippy but people say I look like a cop. It's great when people can't read you.
I have some interest in what culture in Ireland Bob grew up in. Maybe start another thread. I am home with a cough and slacking it. Peace and love.
Been a Rats fan since 1978 when I heard ''Like Clockwork' on Radio 1 on a Sunday morning, and that was my introduction to an appreciation of great music.
Went out the next day after school, got the single, got the album (ATFTT) and built up a music collection from that point. If it hadn't been for that one particular song, I think my passion for music would have developed much later. I thought ''Like Clockwork' was going to be the dog's bollocks on the album til I heard '(I never loved) Eva Braun'. Top five of all time for me.
Bought the first album while on a school trip to Edinburgh and THE greatest saxophone solo ever committed to vinyl assaulted my lug holes. Then the hauntingly melancholic 'I can make it if you can' wrapped it's arms around me and hugged me while stroking my hair and whispering, "face it, mate, you're ours".
That was late '78. Now, three kids, five granddaughters and a pissin-me-off-but-still-cute-as-a-baby's-giggle cat later, the Rats still have a place among my scheme of things. Peace

Hey, I'm Oli and i've been a HUGE rats fan for over a year now. I just got around to making an introduction (and joining the forum, really!) so my apologies for that. I'm a big fan of In The Long Grass at the moment, and my favorite Rats song is Wind Chill Factor. Big fan of Gerry Cott. I'd say i'm fairly passionate about this band, and i'm looking forward to posting here more. Cheers!
