Rats in 101 Irish records you must hear (before you die)

The album A Tonic For The Troops was chosen by Irish rock journalist Tony Clayton- Lea as one of the 101 Irish albums you must hear before you die, and he gave it a very good write up, highly praising the band, especially for their first two albums.

There is so much rubbish Irish rock around, both now and in the past, that the Rats always seem to be sidelined in their own country, while so much dreary, plodding sub U2 dirge, gets praised to high heaven- it's nice to pick up a book and see that Boomtown Rats getting some credit for their music and impact, albeit that the younger generations will be largely oblivious and know little about the band.

This book was first published in late 2011 by Liberties Press in Dublin.
