It's interesting that the songs are chosen from different performances at different venues. Most live albums seem to be, say 'Live in Manchester' or whatever instead of picking from different tour dates. Hope it contains Blowfish and Mary Says.

Odd choice, but How I Roll is there. Just ten tracks seems quite light. It won't be on my shopping list.

Bob has got this thing about there should only be 10 tracks on an album, or no-one will listen to it. I disagreed with him at a gig and he told me to shut up lol. He should listen to his fans, we buy the things!

Somehow I get the impression that if Bob disagrees with anyone he will tell them to shut up!

It's fair enough only having ten songs on an album once the ten songs are good, and that's going to be down to the listener in the end. I think Geldof should have followed up with another album, ie the best of the remainder from How To Compose, and a few new tracks, so that there would not be a huge say, five year gap in his recording career.

On the other hand I tend to agree with him that music should not be forced and you have to wait for the muse to descend, even if that means waiting ten years!

The best albums only have about a dozen tracks at most, so he has a point, but with a live album they tend to be the whole gig over a couple of discs. All the great live LPs (Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous, Who's Live At Leeds) are full on whole gigs, even if they are studio enhanced. Only U2's Blood Red Sky really breaks the mould as a decent single LP, but that was re-done in 2008 as a fuller version.

The strange thing about the album is it is aimed at fans only. Had it been a simple runthrough of the Cadogan Hall gig or any gig on the tour, I may have bought it as a keepsake, but frankly with the uninspring tracklisting with just the two big Rats hits, I'll pass. It'll keep Ian busy selling it for the next few months.

Can't see the price dropping. The website can just have them up for sale for a few years. It's quite a smart move, because with it not available for download nor stream the only way to get it is to buy direct. Also cuts the marketing costs.

Probably will shift 1000 across the globe. Derek The Dane has probably ordered 50 smile It will be his little consolation come Saturday evening disbelief

It's the ultimate contradiction. 35 euro for Geldof ticket, 80 euro for night in hotel, 100 euro on booze, £150 for flights, but 20 euro for a fcuking CD!!! You're taking the pi$$ biggrin

I did buy a Happy Mondays t-shirt at the weekend for £10. I know how to splash the cash. wink

Did contemplate a purchase but even when three sheets to the wind I resisted the temptation @ a whopping 20 Euros.

Might be tempted at £15 on home soil.

20 Euros was another 4 drinks for one thing, or nearly 3 kebabs at Dublin rates smile , and I didn't want to run out of cash on the night. Was more because 20 Euros equates to more than £15 though...

I totally understand your point. I feel ripped off buying a programme for £3 at a match despite paying £50 for the seat confuse As for paying 20 euro/£15 for a Geldof CD, those days are long gone for me.

I think with the recession drink prices in Dublin have fallen. With more people choosing to stay at home and stock up at the off licence pubs have had to do something to get customers, so in general prices are down.

Like all cities the tourist trap areas are the most likely to overcharge, as well as the more well to do suburbs, but if one knows a city or town well enough you get to know whats value and what's not. Unfortunately most tourists will not know enough about the city they are staying in to avoid being ripped off.

The real Dublin is well away from Temple Bar, which is a sort of Oirish Disneyland. Equally some people don't care that much and just want to let their hair down. You won't find them visiting the museums or art galleries or churches or cultural attractions.

20 Euros is worth £16.50 approx.

Don't think the price is unreasonable for a limited edition. I was just a bit tongue in cheek objecting to paying 20 Euro (£16.50 apparently) when I could pick it up for £15 a week later on home turf.

Maybe 'ripped off' was the wrong phrase....
