oh my god it was amazing.i loved every minute of it.he had the flu tho so his singing was a bit off and he couldnt sing all the songs he wanted too.we were on the front and i got a smilejohnny was wandering around outside before it started so i saw him a few times.he did(that i can remember);
great song of indifference
pale white girls
birthday suit
harvest moon
hippy angel
mudslide
beat of the night
mondays
joey's
rat trap
someones looking at you
when the night comes
mary of the 4th form
and for the encore;
diamond smiles
and indifference again (which involved a lot of singing and jumping)
I went to the concert it was fantastic - even though he was full of flu he really rocked. I think because he didnt cancel cos he was ill added to the respect. Most of the plastic pop idol crappy bands would of cancelled at the mere sniff of a cold!
no it was only a tiny venue but there were still seats spare.the photo's are on my dads phone so i'll have to get them off there.foxy where were you sat?
Wow, it was an awesome gig and I'm so glad he made it!
By some strange miracle I managed to meet Bob before the gig just after his soundcheck when he has hanging out round the side of the venue. Nobody else batted an eyelid but it was obvious it was Bob under the long coat and hat. And what a nice guy he is, as he made time to chat and sign a couple of things which was great! As for the concert itself, that was amazing!
Sounds like a great night. Hope he lasts till Monday, as I am GOING TO PERTH. Yeeeees. I am so excited, as I have never sen Bob live before. He will have to take a few hot toddies before then. (scotch whisky, hot water, honey and sugar) I can guarantee this will lubricate the vocal chords. We Scots have known the medicinal qualities of whisky for a long time. (That's our excuse anyway).
Anyone else on here going to Perth? It means I wont get back home till about 1 a.m. and have to be in work at 8, and my class will probably have a grumpy teacher on the Tuesday.
lucky you steve getting to meet bob.i saw johnny turnbull several times but we were stuck in the traffic along with bob and he didnt hang around after cos he was ill.but the seats made up for it.i couldnt take my eyes off him all night except to occasionally grin at pete and johnny.
Hey, those photos are really good! Despite his flu he was on great form and I just can't believe that he came back to play in Hull again, but he said himself that it's always a great crowd in Hull - that's the reason that he returns. And, as he said during the gig, three of his all time heroes in Wilberforce, Phillip Larkin and Spiders From Mars guitarist in Mick Ronson (RIP) come from Hull. Well, Bob is my all time hero. And whoever said that to meet your heroes can only end in disappointment, because Bob didn't disappoint one bit in person. In fact, because of his jovial modesty and great sense of humour (the first thing you said to me was 'Whoah, you've got a Chris Martin things going on!!,' because he thought I look a little like the Coldplay genius), I was even more inspired by him. For all that he's done, and all that he does.
I'm going to write a review of the gig for www.thisisull.com , so watch out.
I also run my own music-obsessed website at www.kidjuxta.tk in case anyone might be interested in checking it out.
For those of you who are set to see Bob play elsewhere, enjoy me hearties!...
I too was at the Hull gig and agree completely that it was an excellent night, I was on the second row and managed to get some good pictures so thought you may like to see them.
Wow, they are awesome photos!!! Especially of him outside the venue and meeting you! What a guy!! I just hope you hits the road again soon. If only he'd write and release a brand new studio album! That's what we need, and that's what I'm praying for...
grrr.brilliant pictures.yet another person who got to meet him.somehow i seem to miss him everytime.hisssssssssss.i think i saw you there actually.i recognise you
