Does anyone own this? Sadly I don't. I wouldn't mind having it for the cover though.

I don't have it but yes, the cover is pretty good. I never fell into the trap of buying records just for the cover. If it had contained say a rare live track or an exclusive song then there might be some point in buying it.
Ratrospective was released as a collection of the bands American singles on Columbia records so you could possibly say it was their first Greatest Hits collection, despite the fact that none of the songs were hits in the USA!
At least you're not missing out on tracks you don't know. And if ever you sell you can use same vinyl grading as your vendor
Interested to know if you still rate the cover when faced with it in all its 12" glory. Think it was the amateurish 'Ratrospective' banner bit that killed it for me. Looks like 3rd form artwork. 'Noperspective' would have been a better title.
Yeah i got that one way back in june 1983. Just 6 songs on the LP. But i did like the cover. To be fair it would not have mattered to me what the cover looked liked as long as it was something to do with the BTRs. sad i know but when your into a band your into it
Can't argue with that. And for all my misgivings about cover I do remember thinking 'good title', even then.
According to my price sticker it was $4.99 new, so I'm guessing a couple of quid back then and approx £3 at today's rates. Doubt you're paying much more Jules?
It's like the USA In the long grass LP Drag me down & Lucky are different to the UK LP. Didn't like what they di to Dave on the U S LP As in rain. I have that on tape Very good.
Any one know why geldof's box set keep's getting put back?
Any one like to know if the best of should have all the b side as well?. I would also like the best of the Rats as the singles came out. I Don't get this, you can even get all the undrertones stuff on all best the of cd's going and they only ever had 1 top ten hit
OR, if you've got cash to splash for a couple more tracks (albeit chronology a little bit haywire after Clockwork) and something real different there's
Thanks for ur update on this. I do have everything going the rats have put out. but some song's have still yet to make onto cd That's way i think they should resease an anthology that way you get all the B side's. Some good one I might add. The only BTRs single I did not get my head round was Charmed Lives. Just did'nt work for me. Far better songs than that one on the V Deep LP
Charmed Lives seemed bewildering to many as a single choice and has few fans round this neck of the woods. I think I'm right in saying it is their only single that failed to chart at all and Beacon Radio in Wolverhampton had a kind of phone-in debate around May '82, when the evening DJ who had been a fan of theirs wanted to know what an earth had gone wrong! Noone rang in by way of support - even I could not ring in and pretend i liked it!
There may be only one song worse than Charmed Lives and that is Charmed Lives Live on On a Night Like This - complete with bizarre werewolf like howls!
