Thanks for this Mark as I missed it on the RTE news. Some observations: it's good that Dave Fanning gives it the thumb up. He is Irelands leading alternative music dj and was a fan of their earlier work, in particular. Good that he sees it as a bit of fun and 'why not' seeing that every other band under the sun seems to have reformed at one stage or the other.
The clip of House on Fire is ultra rare, I think it's from the Late Late Show around April 1982 (if memory serves me it was filmed at Goffs, in Co Kildare) so it's another of those rare clips buried deep in the RTE archives. Not even on YouTube.
I think Factna O kelly is just being cynical with a small c. He must know Geldof is loaded, so Geldof certainly does not need the money. I doubt if he begrudges the others a chance to make some money (if there is a proper tour) surely he managed them with the intention of making a bit of money himself, rather than for the good of his health. Some of us bought multiple copies of albums, cd's and cassettes as well as paid for concert tickets. While they were sucessful they had all the trappings of success but then they started having trouble with the taxman and gradually it all fell apart in the usual rock and roll tradition.
Interesting RTE overdubbing Mondays on the 1978 Hammersmith concert!
