Does anyone know for sure if this is really Mr.Geldof's site on myspace I hate when people play head games and I have found alot out there, but before I think about adding I don't want to be fooled....the site is www.myspace.com/bobgeldof
If this site is a fake I will be I hope the second one to report them, hoping someone in Mr. Geldof's management will be the first...
Truely I am thinking it is not his site run by him or any of his team....
ps flew over from Canada to see Bob in Dublin in Dec..bloody awesome mate well worth the trip...

Illegal? I'll send the cops round, cos Tango ain't your real name
Right I thought it was not done with class that site. I will write that Tom bloke and let him know someone is using Bob's identity and in poor taste...Yes some people need a life...
BUT I know they will have to hear from Bob's team about that site NOT being Bob Geldof, as I will just look or sound like a raging fan in which I am lol
I'm sure it can't be the only one. I've not discovered another, but did once see a Bono one in the same vein. Probably created by the same person. As you say they need to get a life, haven't they gott anything better to do?
That is one of about a zillion bajillion Myspace parody profiles that exist out there; I added him as a Myspace friend for *bleeps* and giggles. The good news is, there is a legit Boomtown Rats Myspace on Myspace Music which has Neon Heart , Living in an Island, Rat Trap, and Like Clockwork, a nice b io of the Rats, and some good pictures. Also you can put any of those 4 songs on to your personal profile, which I've done with "Neon Heart."

It's just for fun, I believe. Definitely not the real Geldof - why in the world would he 1) use a computer to 2) make a humorous Myspace profile? And have a pet porcupine named Nelson Mandela? This silliness doesn't look like the makings of Bob to me.
I don't think it's a big deal that it's out there. There is a myriad of false profiles out there and it's just for sh!ts and giggles as joegravellese said. And I must admit, pseudo-Geldof is my friend as well...
Also I've admittedly made Pink (from The Wall) a profile on "Facebook" (like Myspace, only more college-oriented) - no, I don't think I'm Pink in any way, shape, or form, but it's something I do for fun and to kill time. I don't see any harm in doing that as long as it's not taken seriously.

I am all for harmless fun BUT the site does claim that is it infact Bob, and if Bob ever wanted to put a real one up his name is already used...
I knew it was not real by the names and stuff on the site just didn't sit right, and with what all Bob stands for...I just wont go back to that site...
Cheers for the link for Boomtown Rats will request an add
HE LIVES IN ******* NOT MONACO OR HOTELS YOU DAMN FOOL
Admin note - Please refrain from posting personal information about Bob. And I don't care if it's common knowledge, it will not be found here. Thanks. ~ MJ

I haven't looked at the site yet, but yes it is illegal to hijack some one else's identity and to impersonate them - without the permission of the person - but it depends on how it is done - as to whether it can be brought to legal prosecution - but he certainly could sue...
And under data protection act it is also illegal to associate your "brand" or site with another "brand" or business unless both parties agree - otherwise it is false advertising amongst other things. This is probably easier to prosecute under.
In terms of Bob blog... some of them are genuinely funny - like the Independent article on "rickety old banjo players in third world countries" - and mean no harm. And then some are just pathetic, childish amateur slop that you know has been written by someone suffering from professional jealousy and/or at least with a deficit in intellectual capacity - so you have to pity em, really.
Also, in that "spiritual" book I keep referring to - Bob mentions that his Mentor or someone (alive) he most admires amongst anonoymous people is Nelson Mandela - so it is quite possible he might name a pet porcupine after him - they are very sensitive, intelligent creatures - and he's also a very protective man so perhaps the title suits him.
I have a pet mosquito called Angelina Jolie. She comes out at night with her aviator goggles and flies around my room while I'm sleeping. I've suggested nicely that she might be happier hanging out in a sub tropical mangrove swamp near the equator - but she really loves following me around... and "Who?" magazine responded with her press statement of sorts: "She's too rich, beautiful and powerful now to be challenged by any little doormouse" pictured with Antonio Banderras in her bed... (Oh, did we go too far?) yes... guess you never know what people call their pets.Remember Don the cockroach by Monty?
Heh, heh, that photo looks like he's listening to another one of Tony's scintillatingly "interesting" speeches...
Well I'm glad to see that at least www.myspace.com/theboomtownrats is legit (Darn! Should've registered that when I thought about it months ago! ).
I've seen plenty of those music pages which I thought were fake (for example, the Snow Patrol one says they're from Ireland, when they're really from Dundee, Scotland, it even says that in the biography.
Oh btw, happy first post to me, been a lurker for awhile now, but have been a longtime Rats fan!
