Gary confirms new songs quite likely

According to an interview in the West Cork newspaper The Southern Star Garry Roberts expands on the current state of play in the Rats camp. Best news of all is that he confirms that both Geldof and Garry himself are not on a nostalgia trip and are interested in doing new songs.I'm not sure how long this interview has been around for, but it is irrefutable evidence that the Rats are truly back in business. For full interview just google Southern Star Rats as relevant as ever.

The following is from the Southern Star interview with Garry: [I].....

had to ask as to the likelihood of new music. We would like to do that yeah...at the moment we havent written any new stuff together so what well be doing in Cork will be stuff that weve already recorded. There is definitely a creative chemistry between us. When the band broke up I thought we were doing the wrong thing that we should have stayed together.

'The chemistry between us that produced those songs in the first place is definitely still there though. Weve been together only two days, but you can feel it coming back. Also, we just like playing together. We respect each others judgement. If I can play something and Geldof goes yeah then I get a good feeling from that.

'Ive got loads of riffs that I want to help to build into songs. Bob has bits of stuff that hes written that he wants us to work on so if this all works out and weve got the time, then we do want to produce some new stuff. We dont want to be going out accused of being on a nostalgia trip. We want to prove that there is still creative energy.
