Walked into a second hand record shop today and spotted 12" Tonight. Difference being that it was a remix version done by renowned reggae producer Dennis Bovell. It was a white label for promotional use but it had the usual cover but with remix by Bovell. So it seemed like it was due for public release.
I have never seen this before. For £2 I bought it. Totally different and very reggae . Anyone else seen or heard the track? I used to keep my eyes peeled for early rats releases yet never came across this. I don't believe it was ever released I wonder why?
Haven't heard it, or of it before. Remixes are normally meant as b sides, or extra tracks. I think Tonight is a pretty good song and production and I feel a 'reggae' mix might be interesting ,but probably not as good as the Bob Clearmouintain version.
I should like to hear it, but never have. I always thought Tonight was quite good, but that Drag Me Down and Dave were better singles from ITLG. I've always felt that if they had run with Dave as the first single from ITLG then they would have cracked the top 40 again. Such an excellent album, but for me the 'quite good only' tracks were Tonight, Lucky and Hold of Me and they chose 2 of those as singles.
It is actualy not really that rare.It is on a normal 12 inch and 12 inch promo(no difference with the tracklisting or the songs). You should be able to pick one up on ebay for a couple of quid. The 4 singles from ITLG were all released on 12 inch. The 12 inch of House On Fire is aslo done in the same style.
