Have been in contact with both venues. Neither have replied. The Beach Ballroom does not have the Rats listed at the moment and tickets for Dundee seem to be on sale in a couple of bars only at the moment. I will wait and see.

I've been wondering same. Fat Sam's website not running, and the number I called are some sort of local agent, who had heard about gig but had no tickets.
As for Aberdeen, helpful girl on venue number at first was incredulous 'What, The Boomtown Rats?!?' but then her colleagues confirmed they had heard and tickets, as at last week, would be in 'soon'.
Both seem a little, how shall I put it, lower profile than the O2 venues, which could mean they're more intimate hopefully, but I'm surprised there's no follow up to the publishing of gigs in a whole month.
Maybe BTR will be able to shed some light for us??
The Aberdeen one is a council venue. They are always slower at everything. Fat Sams is a nightclub and will have their own clientele. Hopefully lots of folk will turn up on the night. Think BG will have to do lots of pre gig promo. Maybe he should enlist one of his greatest fans, Lorraine Kelly, from Dundee. She likes interviewing him. And writes for the Sunday Post. Could do a big spread.
Suss, the BB has just been refurbished and looks good and no they are not on Bob's site, but that does not mean anything really. He could also do a phone in with radio Forth2, They are heard all over Scotland (disappointed they are not coming to Edinburgh), either with Grant Stott or Bob Malcolm. or even Ken Bruce on Radio2.
The website has improved to the extent it now lists the gig (encouraging) but has no link to online sales (discouraging) and a phone number that to date always ends up as voicemail option (annoying), which I've thus far ignored as never sure when I can take a call back.
The most frustrating aspect is that the 'info@fatsams.co.uk' email contact provided is undeliverable, or seem to be for me (*@!*!#!!).
Has anyone had any success in booking, or seen a link that should work??
I had left a general query on their website about tickets a few weeks ago. I did say there may be fans coming from all over. Maybe they want to know whether it is worth opening the café/bar? Don't know. Cant get hold of him today.
There are 2 local bars selling tickets at the moment. Hopefully be on line soon.
Got one for Dundee through Groucho Records in absence of venue selling just yet. Beware the £6 (!) recorded delivery charge if you want posted though - I just asked to collect on the night.
Scottie last night mentioned Fat Sam's being taken over, but all reports suggest upcoming gigs not affected, just in case venue name changes or whatever and people start wondering...
They are a major events company too and things should be fine, maybe even better. That support act will never get out of Glasgow alive. If he does, Dundee will finish him off.

I feel for him, I have caught the end of him twice, and he is doing his thing it's just not going down well. Just not his audience. I suspect he'd pack in it now if he had the chance.
Having read this (below link) I'm starting to admire him for perseverance even if the act doesn't sit well pre-Rats or, as we were all musing, was commissioned to make the Rats look even better than they already do by way of stark reminder/contrast.
OK well I admit to only catching the last half of his final song, but it wasn't as bad as I'd anticipated! Maybe it would be better in a smaller more intimate venue .... It must be hard being the support act, when you know that nobody is really that interested and just want to see the main act.
I'm going to try to appear engaged with him this evening without being horribly patronising. We've been rather rude towards him with our reactions. It's difficult to know how though, you can't dance or him along. Feigning interest is difficult. I hope they aren't mean to him over the border. It's not his fault poor man!!
Nobody wants 45 mins of poetry at a Rock gig. Not the right act at all. Glasgow takes no prisoners Sorry, but true. They would do the same if they did not like the Rats either. There will be a few wags shouting stuff I would think.

Hey Jules, he might think you are a really big fan of his if he keeps seeing you at the front of the audience! Not to mention Suss at every gig - he might start thinking you're stalking him!
I was texting and Facebooking during the first one. Talking to people next to me. Did feel conscious of it and was trying to hide my phone. That probably made it worse.
What's worse though I'm a stalker in front row spot or bored? Lol.

There were a few howls of derision near me on Saturday night. I only caught the end. I think I should sue the Rats for their Rats + Special Guests on all the tickets. Guests implies at least two and maybe more people. And special?
They should have called up Pete Barton and got one of his roster as support. Plenty of acts that would appeal to the crowd. Well except Boney M...
Was a bit worried when the new Fat Sam' s website has no mention of the Rats anywhere. Still called Fat Sam's. So I mailed the concert promoter, DM Concerts. They got back to me very quickly, saying it will be up shortly. So, still FS and still on. Don't know what it will be like. Nightclub over 3 floors, several rooms. There will be other things happening too. Bet the Rats will drown out EVERYTHING. Think it will end up being a full house. people will be in the nightclub, saturday night anyway and will wander in. depending on which team is playing at home and the results, may be a lot of pissed footie fans. Don't think I want to be front row for that one.
