Suss knew the right answer to my question who the sax player was at The Roundhouse: Aaron Liddard. Thank you Suss!
OK, next question is much more difficult (I really want to know this one, it keeps me busy since I was a schoolboy...): did the Rats play in Amsterdam in 1978 outside of the RAI exhibition center??? At Tuesdays during the end of the 70's there was a Dutch Radio 3 afternoon live show called Vara's Popkaravaan. In this show an artist got an hour to play live somewhere in The Netherlands, each week a different place and of course different artists/bands. Most of the artists/bands were touring anyway in The Netherlands, so it was extra promotion. When I was a schoolboy some school mates told me that the Rats played their set during this live radio show at a square near the RAI exhibition center in Amsterdam. Of course I was angry when I heard them talk about it, because my high school was just a mile (!) away from the RAI exhibition center and I didn't know anything about it . And I just couldn't believe it was true. When I try to find out I can't find anything about it on the internet. Lucky enough this year I had the opportunity to see the Rats in London, but I still like to hear the answer. The Rats playing outside in Amsterdam 1978? So who's the Boomtown Rats historian???
Think it will have to be a question for the band themselves....
Hi suss,
I don't think they can remember, because the year 1978 was like a rollercoaster for them I guess. Well maybe it will always be a mystery to me. But anyway, 2013 was again The Year Of The Rat!!!
