I see another punk band on the line up From The Jam. They are the Jam with another singer guitar player strapping in for Paul Weller. I would think thst they would be in the same day as the Rats.

I now think it's better to see how the summer enfolds with gig announcements, rather than immediately committing to any.Still it's great to have Rats gigs to look forward to in the summer.

"Chil" is for Chiltern Hills.

Only thing you need do is book fully refundable accommodation. Though catching a late train back to Euston is feasible given the proximity of the venue to the station and I should still be able to get a tube most of if not all the way back.

Why didn't they call it Chiltfest, then we would get the reference. I think most music fans think of a chill out type scenario, unless you are a local and know something about geography. And yes I've heard of the Chilterns, but it was not immediately apparent. confuse

If they stick to weekend dates that are reasonably well spread over year I'd like to do as many as poss. Half the fun is seeing new places and some old faces now. Only reservation is that festival slots may limit duration and therefore a greatest hits selection might prevail. Be good to hear a few other tracks get an airing sometime, but that's not what 90% of punters will want, which is fair enough. Got to cater for the masses, and rightly so.

Old? How dare you!

As it stands, Tring will be the only one I will attend. It's a Friday night, so minimal disruption to the weekend. Would prefer it if the line up was more like the Skegness, but I'll probably only get there for From The Jam, Heaven 17 and The Rats. Should have a better idea of the set after Cheltenham.

Right now it's all pretty academic for me. Mrs. ArrGee is having some minor surgery at the weekend, and I doubt I'd be able to get off work early enough. Will cancel room next week and wait for the autumn dates.

Guess so if you want to get in early and right up front, although it's close (closest?) to venue. Feel free to scout round for others that serve all day. I'm easy.

It looks as though they all serve from 6 pm, apart from one very expensive one, which starts serving from 5.30 pm. Guess we'll just have to order at 6 pm and go fairly swiftly afterwards. Will do another check first, just in case.

Alternatively find a takeaway en route from pub, or see what time last lunch is served if you can arrive a bit earlier and fit in a blow out meal to see you through? Let us know if viable alternative pubs though. Thanks

Decent sized crowd, despite Cheggers compering.

Big Country pretty good, From the Jam excellent, Heaven 17 so-so (wrong order imho), Rats out of this world; just getting better and better. Practice makes perfect and all that.

Shortened set due to time, so no Joey, Banana Republic or When The Night Comes. Interesting that tracks like Neon Heart, Close As You'll Ever Be and 'The Boomtown Rats' preferred. Either way crowd lapped it up, and Jam had set the bar pretty high.

The tour Harrington jackets as modelled by some of crew look fantastic, embroidered left breast and on the back.

ps. Whitehaven is a looooong way from Tring. Long way from anywhere it seems smile

I agree about the order of the bands. From the Jam were excellent and beautifully energetic. Would have been the perfect warm up for the Rats.

The rain didn't put a damper on it at all. Just my camera (which thankfully still works fine.). Could be a blessing in disguise, as I took fewer photos than usual, so won't bore you to tears - even though your eyes are dry. Here they are:
