Man At The Top lyrics first verse

After all these years still a bit confused about first verse MATT lyrics. Can anyone help?

Hey you, can you feel the spark?

And you do you have a need? (think he's saying need!)

And when the (something? strokes, the ones that count

(something?) see it through

Something something ..... your heart

To be honest I just can't make sense of this versesmile

Next verse is :

Yeah You, with your grip of steel

And you, with your will of iron

Now when the light of day is all worked out

And all falls into place, and you were right

How does it feel?

The man at the top X 3

Verse 3:

And now, can you make it last?

And now can you keep control?

When all is said and done

It might all end

You know that time will come

???? all so fast

The man at the top

I took the liberty of asking Gerry, but sadly he can't recall. Lost in mists of time...

Thanks for replying. It's the only lyric of a Rats song we don't have, no, make that 2. Born To Burn is another one that remains 'unsolved'- though for both songs most of the lines can be made out.

Well done to Palace -what a season, and I felt sure they'd be going down, like most other people.smile

I wont be so charitable about Palace - I support Brighton. But it was a stupendous effort this half of the season.

They could easily have rolled over for the Liverpool game. 0-3 down and nothing much to play for against liverpool,  a team that had the sympathy of a lot of people. You should have heard Steve Claridge on the radio doing the co commentary on 5 Iive. He nearly had a nervous breakdown he was so overcome.smile

Blimey! Diffbrook AND DoTheRat both Albion! I hope they do go up..no point in a rivalry if you never meet.

Appreciate the comments re: Palace btw. Nothing short of miraculous, but also true of Sunderland I guess.

I must confess I never really listened intently to Man At The Top. Will listen again on the off chance I can help with the gaps above.

I hope so too, another six easy points.

I also hope they throw Manchester City out of football along with Chelsea and Manchester United for financial doping.    Ditto PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona and all the dodgy Italian clubs like the one funded by a convicted ex-prime minister.  Liverpool as well for not complying with their players contracts. They should also throw out the Germans for their homophobic banners.  IMHO only the FA Cup is worth winning these days given all the cheating.

Still, I guess there are a couple of weeks of the World Cup to look forward to before England catch the 25th June flight home from Rio.

PS - Anyone got a spare for the FA cup final?
