Not the television shows spots or concert footage but things like the 'Dave', 'drag me down' or 'a hold of me' videos. I would be really interested to find out
Most of them were shot indoors so there is no exotic external locations except House On Fire. House On Fire is basically Geldof and the bands home video footage of India from when they were touring in the early eighties.
Rest just seem to be 'soundstages' ie Banana Rep, Million Years, Elephants Graveyard. Dave maybe rehearsal hall most likely somewhere around the London area. Thankfully they were never deluded enough to go to Rio like Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet.

Wasn't the Dave video filmed on location in a country house, disused school, etc type building? No idea where that build would have been, though.
p.s. Just watched Dave video on youtube but wasn't the video I recall. The one I remember from back in the day had a 'grungy' version of the band (blackened teeth etc) breaking into the house, looking for the room the real band were playing in then (presumably) attacking them as the song fades. Did I dream this??!

That's weird. There seems to be a 'clean' version and a 'grungy' hobo type version. Just noticed as the version on YouTube I just watched seems to leave out the down on their look Rats. I'll check this when I have more time, but certainly is interesting, like having two versions of the music.
You certainly did not dream these things, long ago or just now.
I doubt it was Elstree or Pinewood! I just used 'soundstage' to mean a generic place where videos or films or shot. It's much more appropriate for films rather than minor pop videos, I suppose.
One way to find out is to trace the directors of the videos. The only real known name is David Mallet who directer Rat Trap and I Don't Like Mondays. I presume the rest could be found, but the videos were just shot in very ordinary locations rather than glamorous film studios.
