Johnny Borell has admitted that their biggest influence is Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats. Not only has he adopted Geldof's vocal style and mannerisms, their album title is a tribute to the Rats. Johnny has been quoted as saying "The secret of rock'n'roll is to work really hard, but make it look like you're not. You have to toil,"

when you do a web search for this there's loads of bands out there. Most of them I haven't actually heard of

Razorlight are one of the best bands around at the moment (along with some others). I can't think why I might think that

MG - Memphis Group - do you know them?

Dogs Die In Hot Cars are one of those infuriating bands. Undeniably talented & undoubtedly radio friendly but, and this is a BIG but, they annoy the **** out of us all here. Like a cross between The Boomtown Rats, Squeeze, XTC & freakin Deacon Blue, these chirpy Scots will go down in history as a wart on the face of decent music circa 2004. God though, they're still far preferable to The Ordinary Boys. The new single 'Lounger' is out on one of those funky 7" picture discs that seem to be all the rage again ala 1981 & a new fangled CD single thing. The B-side sounds like Talking Heads but nowhere near as good....

Not sure whether they are influenced by the Rats. I've heard the name, but not sure what tracks they've done..

And I found this Steps??? You are joking!! Don't think it is something I'd want to admit to in an argument, but good taste at least.

here's another I don't know:

http://www.nofrontteeth.co.uk/homebrewint.html Homebrew??? Not even heard the name!

http://www.christianpunks.co.uk/bmb.htm The Bill Mason Band??? Who???

There's reference to the Milkshakes (?) but I can't get the link?

I am sure I found more last night, but that's all I can see now.

Where are the Ordinary Boys mentioned? I wasn't looking at that, just at Bob stuff!!

Have you heard of the other bands? Am I out of touch or are they unknowns?
