Fabulous performance yesterday in Henley.  Loved having the Rats in my home county:

Much shorter than usual, cut to the bare bones, nothing new.

Set list was same as Perth but they blagged it and squeezed in the 'new' track, so it was She's so Modern, Clockwork, brief 'we are Mega!' etc, Someone's Looking, Mondays, Mary, No 1, Rat Trap....The Boomtown Rats.

Saw the stage times list and was surprised that no act got more than 35 mins all day. Hazel O'Connor followed Rats and only played D-Days, Will You, 8th day (10 minutes!) then Hugh Cornwell had 15 to sing a new track, Peaches, Golden Brown and Always the Sun (great song). Was just like Live Aid smile

Trusty Mondeo failed me furious when starter motor took it upon itself to flout laws of trade description, and so called 'Superdry' jacket (yeah right) joined the revolution by offering no protection whatsoever against downpour en route on my last minute alternative mode of transport 30mph max moped. I'll forever associate Rewinds with being damp now.....

Interesting parting shot from Bob to Henley by the way, after he'd told crowd they were all posh and should **** off, which was 'see you next year'. Hmmmm?

'See you next year'  - Another reflex set on automatic?!

Be nice to think it was thought through though..........

I hope not, hope it was for real

the Rats had a comparatively long set then. I didn't take note of the timings and left when after they finished.

How ow long did it take you to get there, Suss?

Only just over 2 hours smile It's 48 miles from my place apparently.

The saving grace was going down the outside of that mile and a half queue into Henley caused by the festival traffic lights and temporary road closures.

Hmmm indeed. Wasn't he known as posh Robert back in the day going up and down Grafton Street in his velour suit?

I think I will book a return train ticket for Cambridge.  Not surprised your poor motor has given up.  Must have thought you were heading up to Aberdeen.  How many miles must it have done on the last tour? it wouldn't surprise me if you have an excel spreadsheet recording it all knowing your obsessive tendency

Ye of little faith...smile

It'll be patched up by then (better be!) or I'm fooked for the tour.

As for spreadsheets.... sad to say I have got one  no , recording all gigs showing date/venue/line up/guests, only from when I started going in 2010 though. Also use it to remind myself if I've ordered tickets. One of these days I'm sure I'll buy same gig twice blankstare

I have double booked gigs when it isn't agreed who should be buying.  Luckily these days there is seatwave or viagogo to  sell spares on, but I have ended up giving them away on the night.

That said I have ended up with a spare for the forum date. Bought it for a friend who now can't make it. Should be possible to shift it nearer the time.

I just booked a return train ticket to/from Cambridge. It was only 10p extra. Taking no chances
