Mondays played in full, snippets of Rat Trap, SLAY and Clockwork on the Steve Wright show. Plenty of publicity and bon homie from Steve. The Radio 4 interview was good. Not previously heard the going to Mass tale with Paul (Billy) from the abattoir, then straight to a strip club after in the dodgy part of Dublin!

Missed the News at Ten bit and can't find it on ITV Player.

Weird interview. In the middle of Bobs spiel suddenly the latter part of SlAY was played and then Clockwork. Bob mentioned that he liked to buy cd's and have a physical product in his hands. He said he had recently bought a handful of Ramones, Costello cd's in Dundee. I like his old fashioned refusal to embrace modernity as readily as some.

Still going on about his rather successful solo career and how it was the other Rats coming to him for reunion etc. Strikes me as a bit begrudging but maybe I'm wrong. Mogadon radio really, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. But then afternoon Radio 2 is hardly the place to expect much interesting questioning.

Apparently there was nothing on 10 pm news. False alarm from Pete.

I thought he was anti-CD.  If that comment was aimed at the like of me, CDs are bit modern aren't they?  Certainly more so than the vinyl I buy at our local Oxfam.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1400625/Record-sales-put-vinyl-back-in-the-groove.html

Bob Geldof, whose band, the Boomtown Rats, was one of the first to be recorded on CD, said: "I remember when I heard our first CD album: it did not sound like anything we had heard on tape or in the studio. I can remember moaning about it at the time. The scope of the sound seemed artificially limited."

The first Rats cd album release was V Deep on a Japanese release I believe. That was back in the early days of cd, when they were only available in Japan, late 1982.

Not true.  It was originally released in March 1983 in UK cos I got it.  Didn't have a CD player to play it until 1986.   It was far better than the remaster.

Yeah I picked this cd up in a wee record shop called Caroline music in Belfast Paid £16 for it I think why back in 1982 . I remember the guy saying to me the boomtown rats Really. But it took me up until the late 80s B4 a could play it as I was unable to buy a cd player until then when the price started to come down. This Was my least fav RatsP1210754.JPG album But it was on cd and I did not think that I would get any other rats album on cd again, so wrong was I
