Why are the live sets getting shorter?

The Us sets were pared down, but now it looks like the UK sets are going the same way.   I reckon about half a dozen songs have fallen by the wayside since the Polo Club only to be replaced by the eponymous song.    The Barton/Bradbury Rats were longer.   By the time they get to London,   it'll probably Eva Braun, Mondays, Mary, Rat Trap, Having My Picture Taken, Diamond Smile and the eponymous song.   The encores could be longer than the gig

Maybe they should have an interval or an interlude.  After the instrumental section of Banana Republic, Simon and Garry could do the Feelgood tribute while Geldof gets some refreshment.  Simon could even give us a rendition of Fall Down.  Geldof comes back for Mondays and then bish bang wallop into She's So Modern, Mary, Joey and Rat Trap.  Another bit of refreshment for all followed by a couple of more obscure song before I head to the bar for refreshment whilst they play out with Diamond Smiles and the eponymous song.  Sorted!

Pete told me on Monday they have cut the set by 10 mins. Were finding it too much every night.   1 encore, 2 songs. said All the Rage was not really working. Bob was sleeping on the sofa right enough. Also London will have a FEW surprises. When I said Gerry again he did not deny it, but what else?

To be honest, Gerry Cott turning up is something I'd expect.

Good Surprises

  • Royal Blood and/or Difford & Tilbrook to do support slot before heading down the road to the Electric Ballroom/Union Chapel
  • Wilko Johnson to turn up and play All Through The City and She Does It Right as an encore
  • They play Don't Believe What You Read as the final song
  • They don't play The Boomtown Rats!

Bad Surprises

  • Bono, Phil Colic(sic) and Sting turn up and give us a rendition of Do They Know It's Christmas?
  • Charmed Lives and Another Piece of Red replace Rat Trap and Someone's Looking in the set
