if I ever got into a conversation with Bob, what would I say?

I'm not sure on fan/Bob etiquette, if there is any.

What would your suggestion be Jules? - should the occasion ever arise?

Hmm I'm not the best at thinking of what to say. Thank them of a great gig, that goes down well.

Never get much time to say a lot, Bob often takes the lead anyway. You don't get many silences with him around. More relaxed with the rest of the band anyway.

And there was me thinking I was the only person on the forum never to have met Bob/had my piccie taken with him/spoken to him!!!  Well there's a thing - mind you, only trying to protect everybody else cos after meeting ME he'd obviously find everybody else a disappointment

Mind you, saw Garry after Wolves gig, and after hubby saying how wonderful his guitar playing was, the only thing I could think of was to say how great his shirt was!  Mind you, I know more about shirts than guitars so stick to your strengths I always think   Would have only got caught out if I'd try to get all technical about the music - just know what I like really and leave it to those that can do it to get on with it without me putting in my four penneth!

Actually as I'm doing a sponsored swim at the moment, maybe I could say to Bob "Give us some of your fcuking money!!"

Sorry to disappoint, but I know Joan of Arc has met BG and had her photo taken with him. I was there .

No etiquette, I asked him where my kiss was on Saturday (after he hugged and kissed someone else). He said he kisses me every night. Lol. In my dreams! Ha ha. I gave him A kiss, which he didn't return. .

I have never met nor spoken to Geldof, although he did step on my toes at a hotel bar in Cork.  Never had my picture taken with him either, well not unless you count me holding up a big banana in the crowd with him on stage.

A banana?  So that's how to make yourself a-peeling to him!  Well, you've obviously succeeded in getting closer to him than I have - even if it's only to have your toes trodden on!  Anyway his loss!  biggrin

no worries about ticket Arrgee

yep I did 'meet' bob on one occasion and squeeled like a 12 year old meeting a teenage idol lol

the only thing I said was 'can I take a pic' - bit rude really if you think about it

I'm sure he's used to fans acting like ****s around him though, don't mean you jules lololololol

as it is, I'm in 2 minds about whether to go, I was planning on going to some of the Socialism Weekend on Saturday, then a bday do to go in the evening..... so I don't want to overdo it and I'm busy sunday too, unfortunately work has been going direly badly and I'm skint as anything..... so might have to give this one a miss sadly.

i'll be down there at the front bopping away in spirit though :D

Lol. I have acted like a complete prat in front of him from nerves, in the days I was very star struck. He doesn't seem to hold it against me.

So desperate not to look foolish, we act totally pathetically. He must be used it. I don't feel so bad when I am witness to someone else doing it

Not as bad as me Jenny. I spilled red wine down his suit at Hay. I was mortified. He said I would get the dry cleaning bill, but was smiling when he said it. I said I hope it was not a new one, he said he got it from the Red Cross. Never got the bill of course. Offered to buy him a glass at the hotel, but he would not take it.

I had a boring evening in.... apart from a quick one at the pub local to work, got home about 8pm, faffed about, chatted on the phone for a bit..... put a load on in the washing machine.... erm looked at facebook...... then joined in some online psychic games...... did a reading for someone online..... stayed up way too late. its gone 3am, and I'm thinking to myself 'I really don't want to go to the socialism event tomorrow afternoon' so I guess I'm going to give that a miss as well despite having bought a ticket.

I dunno, what is there to do that I cant read about from the comfort of my own home? - i'll read Brand's revolution this weekend instead. he's been getting a lot of flack from the press hasn't he? or so I've heard. I will hazard a guess and say its all trashy reading (the jouranlists giving him flack) ------ and you say you actually studied?????

I've not been following it all..... so I might be wrong. someone might of written something worth reading about him somewhere.

feminists seem to hate him.... apparently he is/or was a misogymist or however you spell it.. its that late I don't care.. I had to look up what it meant. said woman-hater. so anyway, so what?..... plenty of us go through a stage of hating the opposite sex or humans in general for that matter lol

not saying brand hasn't done some daft stupid dumb insensitive things, like for instance phone a rape crisis line during one of his stand up comedy gigs. now that is bad bad taste.

but perhaps I'm more forgiving than most,,,, as someone who has also done some weird **** in her life........ anyway, I'm expecting to be educated by his book and inspired actually.

I think he's got a point about not voting. I wouldn't necessarily go out there and advocate it.... but I have to say to all those people who value their vote for 'change' (hahahahaha) - of which the only real option is labour, since no one else will get in. and so all you people for change to get the blue brigade out of power that vote labour................... and in answer to people that say its stupid not to vote, what about the suffragettes blah blah blah: WELL, and its NOT stupid to vote for a party that took us to war with Iraq and murdered in cold blood hundreds of thousands of innocent iraqians??? ah you really so great for voting blair in that time??? do you feel really great that you at least voted?

its pretty hideous really.

there is no vote for change, I agree with Brand.

 Only kidding.

The gig was superb. Usual set with Howard Hughes encore. Sax player for Rat Trap which was accompanied by a very lively crowd, self included, at the front. Place was absolutely buzzing at that point, with the whole of the circle stood applauding. Headed to the bar for Diamond Smiles, and the rest of the Forum was vey crowded. Nice to meet a lot of forum members and other fans, and thanks to Derek for the King Biscuit CD.  Also Republica were great. Wish I caught them n Cambridge.

We saw Darren in the pub and he told us not to get our hopes up with regards to 'surprises'. They couldn't pull one if them off. Obviously, Gerry couldn't make it. So the only surprise was the sax player.

This one passed me by in a bit of an alcohol haze, but from what I can remember it was one of the better ones. Great that the place was packed, and that a year after last playing London people were there in their droves yet again. I love when Bob sings 'Did somebody put something in my drink?'- as if implying that he might be hallucinating a sell out Boomtown Rats gig, and just finishing up a very successful second leg of the Uk Tour.

Republica seemed to go down very well, and it shows how a well chosen support act can get a good vibe going, and the crowd on their side.Great turn out from this forum and other social media. Nice to meet Reevo, a great guy and good fun, and Ian from Liverpool, Tango, again, and the rest of the regular Rats/Geldof crew.

Really liked the Forum as a venue. Not as posh as the Roundhouse, but pretty decent and again brilliant that so many came back again this year for a London gig. Also it was a dedicated Rats crowd, not a festival bill crowd, so people were there because the wanted to see the Rats primarily, rather than just taking a 'randon' festival bill.

Bring on next year, and taking the cue from Never In a Million Years, 'Don't stop now....'smile
