Well thanks for valiant efforts trying to cheer me up guys! Still pretty gutted though ...
Been thinking L, did you put Mrs in the title box on Carfest login?? That may have been your undoing.
They filter out female applicants on basis it's cars and therefore a ticket wasted. Organisers say they don't want visitors saying nice green one, look at that shiny red one etc
All this coming from a man who wouldn't know a big end if he sat on it, so to speak
"Mit great regret the Boomtown Rats have announced that the planned for the end of May shows have to be cancelled in Cologne and Munich . To give the fans at least the chance to experience the Boomtown Rats once live , the show in Wiesbaden at 29.05 . maintained . Ticket holders for the show in Cologne can use their tickets to Wiesbaden and there , experience upon presentation of their tickets , the band live . Ticket holders for the show in Munich can refund you for tickets purchased at the respective box offices the money ."
So it does not seem the Promoters have cancelled them. NO idea why. Ticket sales?
That Ratlife promo vid has Munich and Cologne dropped on the end dates, but not on beginning ones
Even more worrying it has Latitude Sat 18th.....no wonder people get pissed off.
Is that official? I have to admit, it's not that easy keeping everything up to date as the "official" communications come from numerous different sources which all disagree. Rats site (no mention of Latitude nor cancellations), Geldof site (no mention of Latitude nor cancellations) and Facebook (with the dodgy video and no mention of cancellations) all give different dates. Add RAM and the TBC dates into the mix and it is near impossible to be 100% sure where and when the Rats are playing.
I try to keep the first page on this thread current, but given the unofficial nature of the forum, it is best efforts. It all depends on forum members like Joke and Scottie spreading the word. Unfortunately there is often some inherent risk in booking Rats/Geldof tickets.
I'd say it's as official as the websites, being the band page but given the vagaries of T&Cs for festivals you can bet trying to switch your £91 ticket won't be straightforward. Only saving grace is we're not talking about a sellout festival so it ought to be negotiable at least.
Just irritates me as it's not difficult to establish an agreed date is it? Be amusing to see the band rock up Saturday and be told "sorry 'Jose Gonzalez' is playing your slot, can you come back tomorrow?"

Women influence 84% of all vehicle purchase decisions. The last two cars we bought were for my wife. I have given up on cars, just rent them when needed, though I am currently driving the Panda and keeping it taxed, motted and insured for my son. If anything, sticking Mr. on the details would be the issue.

Well that explains it then - hubby was ordering them ...
Think the problem was the official guideline seemed to be tickets in great demand, order as many as you can. And obviously other people did
Just for the record I would NEVER EVER say nice green car - I hate green cars, it's just got to be red. Well I did deviate once with a white micra, and although the first car we had was described as a flame-red cortina it was actually orange, but apart from that it's been red all the way
I'm rather hoping he's got it wrong having forked out for 19th, but guess my argument with Latitude for "mis-selling" is more compelling if not. I'm confident they'd see reason. Saturday is the preferable day travel/recovery wise to be fair.
I've not received anything official about the cancellations or about Latitude...
...just assuming Hamish on the Rats FB has it right!!
I reckon their name on the Latitude poster and heaps of press on it is better than official! And the cancellations are on the page where the tickets can be purchased.
To be honest, I don't know who the fcuk Hamish is and he has got it so wrong it is unbelievable. They don't even play Do The Rat live.

p.p.s. Has anyone seen any links to Paris or Lublin?
I wouldn't be too hasty! Live Earth seems to be a Live Aid/Live 8 type event and it wouldn't surprise me if all the Rats did was play Mondays and shuffle off to leave Geldof on stage with Al Gore.
The web site is less than informative. http://www.liveearth.org/

Well there you go...the shall we say not quite so obsessive fan gets through all the preamble, presented with a screen that says £62 per head please, and decides (not unreasonably for anyone not as "afflicted" as we all are) that it's easier to tell you sold out
Have you checked back to see if really sold out?
I had a Leyland 'vermillion' car once upon a time...sounds like your Cortina may have been similar hue.

I often do that. See a gig, get excited and then see the price...
...turns out I wasn't that bothered after all.
Latest was £75 for Bob Dylan. But even baulked at £60 for Arctic Monkeys. Did push the boat out paying £90 for The Who, but that was a one off as I had never seen them before and thought it would be more or less the last chance. £50 is more or less my limit.
The Rats are good value at around £30 or less. Royal Blood at £20 was the best deal of the year.
BG.com says Munich is cancelled. Cologne is still on there and you can still buy tickets for Cologne?? Very confusing.
bg.com? link ain't what you expect if you follow it. bobgeldof.com Koln cancelled, but not Munchen. And no Latitude...
Wednesday 27th May 2015 Munich, Backstage Werk, Germany
Thursday 28th May 2015 Swiss Festival Winterthur, Switzerland
Friday 29th May 2015 Wiesbaden, Schlachthof, Germany
Saturday 30th May 2015 Cologne, Palladium, Germany CANCELLED
I did say I was confused. BTR.com doesn't have any cancellations. Where does that link take you? I've never thought to click on BG.com, my abbreviation .

In other words 'ticket touts, please buy as many tickets as you please, we don't care'

I don't think the touts would bother. Festivals are a hard sell for touts cos people don't walk up to the middle of nowheree to sell spares. And the big festival like Glastonbury have id checks. Not even seeing tickets on viagogo. In this case it just seems like heavy demand for a limited number of tickets.
Paris show is not happening. Not sure what that was all about. It did seem as though we were getting close to the wire for tickets, if it was going to be Live Aid/8 style.

Is Paris not happening at all or just as far as The Rats are concerned?

haven't you heard about the melting icebergs? Paris is drowning but I live by the river...(groan)
But seriously I don't know. Will be interesting to find out.
I was just advised Paris is cancelled, so I'm not 100% certain.
Not that I had any plans to go, but it may have resulted in an appearance on TV or a stream. Are they ever going to reveal what Jun 27 or 28 Pencil RAM is? Still reckon it is Glastonbury, probably play before Paul Weller
Has anyone seen the fantastic/mad promo Bob has done for the Norwich Reload gig. Obviously that's the one to go to if Geldof is gonna be in that sort of mood. It's on the Rats Facebook page, Geldof playing the ukulele and smashing it up like a madman. Fantastic stuff.
Today I received an email from the German ticketoffice that the gig in Cologne is cancelled. I knew that, but they don't mention the possibility to use the tickets for Wiesbaden.
So is the Wiesbaden gig still on? Anyone got inside information, please?
As at a couple of days ago it was definitely on. Suspect it's just promoters/ticket agencies not necessarily aligned about the option to use Cologne tickets in Wiesbaden.
Definitely wrong, they've confirmed to me which has been cancelled and which is going ahead. As we've discussed above. Someone has made an error on where they've typed CANCELLED. Not greatly helpful for anyone reliant on the website for info. The Rats. .com site still has them listed as going ahead.
Hej Ratfans - small selection of pics from Sveeden.
Really good gig, in a decent venue. So much better than festival/outdoor slots for my money. Band not on till 11pm so plenty of dance fuel opportunity. Familiar set (see below) but didn't play Howard Hughes on this occasion. Shame there weren't more there (poss 250-300) in attendance) but Karlstad is 3 hours from Stockholm/Gothenburg/Oslo and not a huge place. Very friendly though, and everyone but everyone speaks perfect English. Amazing!
No problem whatsoever. I'm not sure 'credit' is the right word for my shabby stage shots. They're for the memories rather than artistic merit Mind you, pretty much every one has the same clothes/backdrop so I couldn't tell you what was where anyway
Yet another good gig in Winterthur, in a massive converted ship turbine factory so the story goes. Plenty of standing room and a big bank of temporary seats at rear. I'd guess 1000 plus in attendance.
Same set as Sweden, with new backdrop video for Do You In (see below). Only other notable difference was Rat Trap restarted because audience clapping was dreadful according to Bob
It's a crap clap....
Now in Wiesbaden. Fair to say it's not the west end of town. Hope car isn't on bricks tomorrow. Long walk to Calais.
Wiesbaden - same set, no video backdrop, good crowd (1000) and no support. Show was over before 9.30 bizarrely but good time had by all. Good to see a few familiar faces there too. Might have to rely on others for any decent indoor pics; mine are the usual level of mediocrity, and Joke I believe was prevented from snapping due to having camera at the other end of the scale.
Good venue though. Backing onto railway line beside which is a moving memorial to deportations all those years ago.
I did manage one picture with my camera, after the show, with Bob, Justyna and me :). Nice memory.
Ronald took some with his camera so I'll see if they are decent enough to share.
I very rarely post anything on FB. Don't mind tags but don't put my own stuff up much, if ever. Feel free to lift and share anything though. No need to credit.
I'm happy just sharing with the select few hardcore on here.
Maybe it wasn't related to ticket sales. Perhaps one or more members of the band had double booked themselves or something? Bob always does well on his own in Germany, no reason why the Rats wouldn't either.
Kivenlahti Rock - sunny day, chilly evening, Rats not on until 2245, and following a day of rock, so not ideal. Still pulled out all the stops, but finished with Rat Trap, i.e. no encore at all. Prob about 500 watching, from the peak attendance of 1000 spread over the gig and 2 stages. Will post pics sometime.
Word of warning - Bristol will be "festival" set so likely 40-45 mins of singles only. Will still steal the show
And whatever the Pole opposite of belatedly is, a sneaky preview of the 'intimate little venue' for tomorrow's gig.
Not sure how many gigs they hold there but my hotel, actually in the shadow of the Lublin's version of Wembley (possibly true of half the town in fairness), seemed very startled to have a guest, so much so that I had to wait 15 mins (a quarter of an hour too long!) to check in. I suspect they were holding a staff meeting to remind themselves of the process. Either that or they were doing a test to see who had the best English as my Polish (very much limited to Boniek Tomaszewski Lech Walesa) wasn't particularly helpful.
Seems like 50% of the buildings/roads are under reconstruction, but far be it from me to suggest all the local builders are where I've just come from. Hoping there are enough locals to fill that place. Not seen any posters yet but local market had a tannoy with radio promoting the gig so fingers crossed.
Will post post gig, but hopefully Joke will be able to provide some decent pics. Well aware mine are below par.
Well I left my camera at home this time. Not looking forward to having to hand it in at Security again. I have a small camera, hoping to get a few good shots with it.
As an aside, I was idly looking at venues available around Halloween in London, but most venues are booked out, but Vicar Street looks to be free from 29th-31st October...
