It's Friday 30th that I have tickets for U2. .... Only time will tell what is going to happen. Just wish they'd announce what they are doing.
End October suits me, could bring the family off to Dublin during half term, save going to Center Parcs again. If Ireland make Rugby World Cup final, could be a hell of a weekend.
I suppose that adds a whole new meaning to. Pole dancing 😆
With that in mind I'm hoping they announce a gig in Lapland
Back to topic, Lublin sounded great, with the 'usual' set for the longer appearances. Crowd seemed to appreciate the show, but fair to say the 'pit' wasn't as lively as for Biohazard, which was something of a relief truth be told.
Well worth the trip; possibly the cheapest place I've been, with beers at around £1 a pint and food also very reasonably priced. As mentioned elsewhere, probably a cheaper weekend than going to one of the major UK festival appearances.
Went to Warsaw in 2003/4 and the price of a pint in Crewe compared to Warsaw.......poles apart. And that's not even meant to be a pun. We found a great restaurant near the Palace of Culture & Science where a 3 course meal with wine was less than £10 per person.
Very interesting capital, 80% rebuilt after WW2. Few places saw war like Warsaw saw war.
Not convinced myself that is the top slot; sometimes seen as graveyard shift as well so not necessarily a headline act following.
I'm happy enough with Rats slot as 'prime' gigging time, and guess if there's onward travel to Rewind it's no bad thing to be done and dusted a bit earlier.
Re: "it only needs to be someone half decent for me to finally cough up for a day ticket", it ought to be one of the better festivals for lineup anyway so hope you do take the plunge and will be seeing you there
Am waiting to see if my possible free accommodation is likely to be vaguely habitable by August, but I'd be pretty gutted to miss the boys in 'Pool.
As for who I'd like to see, I can only afford the one day so there are a few acts from other days I wouldn't mind seeing bumped up, best would be Membranes from Sunday's top slot on the smaller Pavillion stage. Or TV Smith, as Saturday's about the only day he's not playing any stage, but not sure his band are big enough for late night. Or bring in someone like the Blockheads who fit the golden oldies criteria.
ETA: Pete reckons they're just swapping, which would put Hugh Cornwell of the Stranglers on the late spot. Sod it, booking a ticket!

Centre of town to gig/hotel was about 30 min walk, done about 4 times, and I also walked out about 3 miles each way to the wartime camp. All in about 25 degrees.
No 'Tonic' for this troop. Not even with the obligatory (and cheap) Polish vodkas that Jusy Lucy made me drink
Few snaps from recent gigs at Carfest and Friedberg. There are far far better stage shot ones from others on FB, so I'll concentrate a little more on the 'settings'
Glorious weather in Germany - be great if similar free community gigs happened more over here. Must have been 2500+ there.

... no one slags sting off like they have with Bob...
Oh I don't know about that. Sting gets plenty of slagging off. I don't know anyone who likes the tree-hugging tantric-shagging caterwauling jet-setting hypocrite. But fair's fair, Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity are pretty good LPs and he wasn't too shabby as an actor in a couple of decent movies so I'll forgive him for a lot of that. Nowhere near as bad as Phil Colic(sic)
On reflection probably not, unless anyone got precious about pronunciation of Gvarv Seemed to cause much merriment, especially at comment 'we've waited 40 years to play G-varv'. I'm still not sure how it's supposed to be said.
Made it to the Picnic. Fantastic! Hour set, including Banana Republic. Amazing crowd, no idea how many thousands but felt like Isle of Wight, just more packed at the front.
Will post some pics later. Just about to board at Dublin.
Hopefully be seeing a few people at Reload? Last one in diary for now before hibernation, with fingers crossed.
