Thought it would of been worth mentioning The Rats are on the radio 2moro, but all it has is a link to buy the latest Rats rip off hits CD. Last tweet was in August. And that was to flog tickets in USA. Why is it so crap.
It was alive earlier yesterday, or it might have been Saturday. Oh well, this is the best Rats place to be. You can also join us on FB if you've got an account. Follow the link on my signature.
Ah, just had to edit as I realised I misread the yoof speak...

Glad I'm not alone in this. I often find text/yoof speak difficult to understand and have to reread it slowly. It's like a different language . Are we getting old?

Ain't a yoof anymore, not 4 a long time. the boomtownrats.co.uk is we are playing here buy a ticket, we have another CD buy it. May as well say give us your ****ing money and be done with it. Treating fans like ****.
The site is a voluntary project run by fan(s). It is not the Rats themselves. Something is obviously wrong at the moment.
It is the official site. I thought Pete Briquette was involved in it along with BTR. It used to be a pretty good source of information with reviews and stuff, but having just looked at it, now it is up again, it looks like all it does these days is state tour dates and CDs for sale.
Also given it is the official site, it's surprising the none of the tour merchandise is available. Still good thing as far as I'm concerned, saves me buying 10" vinyl eps.
I heard Pete was looking to be involved, but heard nothing beyond that. Yes, I was also expecting to be able to order merchandise through it. That's a separate venture and may be a bit ambitious?

I would have thought it would be all a bit more joined up. It is the band's official site, as it is often used on posters etc. Given the band have been two thirds reformed for a couple of years, I would have thought they'd have some input like they have on Facebook.
I'd also expect a bit of news on things like tonight's radio show. The odd thing is that sometimes it is ahead of the game like on the latest hits CD, but sometimes it is inaccurate, such as the Great Hall being the venue in Exeter. Must admit I thought it was funny when the publicity video for the Ratlife Tour took all the details off this forum. boomtownrats.co.uk is becoming more like nogeldof.info used to be. Having written that, cue the link to this forum disappearing.
I rarely look at boomtownrats.co.uk nor the impossible to navigate geldof.info.
Even if they just stuck their Facebook feed on their, like they do with the barely-used Twitter, at least there'd be a stream of fairly up to date info. They haven't even got a link to it. Nor have I ever understood the ebay links. Weird site. If I could tell what platform they're using I'd be sorely tempted to offer my services.
Ultimately, as it currently stands, the official site is the last place to look for any info.

Their FB page isn't that active. Sometimes goes for days with not a dickie bird .
This forum is usually the most up to date for info. I have to say I copy lots of items from here to go on the BG page. Either that or internet/Twitter searches .

Thief! Aren't you the one with copyright issues!
Only kidding. Nothing on here nor on my blog is copyrighted. Copy it all. It's not like this forum nor my blog have any intention of making money.
Yeah, I could just copy entire discussions. . Try not to copy things with copyright issues. Lol. If someone else has written it, they can get the blame. I mean credit.
Maybe the site should be dedicated to Saint Boomtown, cos he's the patron saint of ....
Well maybe that's a bit strong. Wish some of the band should keep a blog and let us know what's happening. Maybe Simon or Darren. On The Only Ones website which I visit the guitarist Alan Mair is good at keeping fans informed. He's the same vintage as the Rats, infact a little older, so there's no excuse.
Despite all the slow news feed from official sources happily the band can sell out tours, so something must be working.Maybe they could pay ArrGee or Jules to run the official site?
No. This forum was disowned by them. Never going to be beholden to the "management" again.
Well not unless there's a big bag of ca$h on offer
I suppose they do decent business without the help of the internet, but wouldn't it be nice if they utilised Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify et al
Maybe they could pay ArrGee or Jules to run the official site?
Always open to getting a big bag of ca$h. To be honest, I probably wouldn't do it for many reasons. I don't really do web design. This forum and my blog are as much as I have even done, and 90% of that is pre-configured. Even the blog has been a little neglected in recent months. Just about have the dates from the last tour up.
I remember they had a really nice micro site to go with the Best of and remasters in 2005, but that has long gone.
It's a shame the official site doesn't have more comprehensive coverage of the Rats as it probably gets hundreds if not thousands of hits per day. The couple of dozen visitors on this forum make little difference, especially as they are all pretty hardcore fans.

I see The Damned are claiming 120,000 'likes' on their site. Good old r'n'r hyperbole never goes out of fashion it seems. I was afraid of a virus from that Mondays site so had to shut it.

Would surprise me if down the years if a band site like boomtownrats.co.uk which has been going for far longer than this forum got over a hundred thousand different viewers. It will naturally come up first on any google search.
The only reason people chance upon this forum and probably the blog is when they search for a bit more detail. Only the very determined get here.
There is something on the news and a tweet. Nice to see signs of life in the auld rat site
Yeah, just read it. download radio show oh and you can buy the album here. Give us your f u c k I n g money.
