Just looked up pubs nearby. This is the only one that serves food in the evening. Not cheap, but relatively near. We will have the car with us. What time are they on stage? Thinking of 4 PM meet up or a bit before ish...
We are likely to be there sooner. I think it's about 20 mins walk from the map. Might take me a bit longer, I'm walking weirdly right now 😜. See what H wants to do with car, park it up and walk or drive.
May be easiest to move on and park at the venue (it's free apparently). Just scouted pub and car park isn't huge, plus parking outside it looks tricky (it's a lane) and would guess it'll be restricted anyway.
Pub was the Dovecot but got burned down last year - reopened as Ashton a month or so back. Should be freshly painted at least
Guess cars could be left there, as we'll be customers, but doubt they'll welcome that. Little Angel at Henley were controlling entry for very similar circumstances for Rewind last year.
Do you reckon it's worth turning up and trying to find a ticket?
Got Madness at Fratton Park next saturday, but I'm really not that up for it.Keep thinking aboiut the Rats.
Not sure there will be touts like normal gigs, or even if it's sold out. I'd try website to see if still selling, then ringing organisers to see if pay on the day possible.
Let us know if you're thinking of heading to pub too so we can look out for you. Cheers
Will give the 'official' meet up a skip this time. I will get the Lets Rock shuttle bus, which runs every 15 minutes, from the city centre and plan to be at Ashton Court around 8 pm or thereabouts.
Having to endure any of that 80's rubbish would just ruin it for me, so I figure, just get there about an hour before the Rats come on stage, and jobs a good'un. Finishing time is officially 10.30 pm and then I can get shuttle bus back into town, a short walk from my hotel.
I should be in Bristol airport at 3pm, get the bus into town, and will chill out and take it from there. Again I have no wish to be anywhere near the rest of that line up and all that interminable waiting so best to avoid all that.
Will say hello at the gig though.I'm sure you and H will be down the front as usual.
Hope the weather is better. We're having a miserable Bank Holiday weekend in Ireland. It's cold and wet and not ever springlike.
Hope to see you there, Noel. I think I have a phone number for you. If we don't see you, I might drop you a text.
I plan to get there about an hour before the Rats come on stage. Will come and say hello. Wouldn't mind catching the end of China Crisis or Roland Gift, but the rest....
I can give Rick Astley any time. Would like China Crisis and maybe one or 2 others, but I'm not sure of the running order. Might be stuck with Rick Astley! .
I think we might all be going in at different times. Nick Barker is going, but I think he might go straight there early because he wants to see all the earlier bands. Hope he manages to get a good space and we can find him and join him .
