Saw this link to a band trying out Rat Trap while viewing above. Not sure if posted previously. Must be a few covers kicking around.

Maybe should start a thread on rats tributes/covers

I'd love the Rats to cover All Through The City by Dr Feelgood. I've been listening to this song over and over for the last few weeks and it's just brilliant.

It's got fantastic lyrics about the very hot summer of 1976. I think Geldof was quoting from this song on one of his interviews about how Dr Feelgood was the template for the Boomtown Rats.

They used to do it live with Pete Barton, though it was Simon doing vocals.  Played it at the 100 club back in 2008.

Geldof is the best singer in the Rats. Simon's voice is too 'pure', not suited to rock and roll so Bobs the man to sing it.I was listening back to the Maida Vale podcast and Bob said that he hates his own singing voice. He was pretty vehement about that, which I found surprising.I would find it hard to like a band and not actually like the singers voice. Normally if I don't like the sound of a singer I am put off, ever if their music is good. One singer I can't stand is that guy from the Stereophonics.

I think most fans think he is a pretty good singer and can't really imagine the songs without him. It's so much easier to understand Geldof than Lee Brilleaux, who had a sort of gruff howl that normally has me reaching for the lyrics booklet.smile

Never gonna live that one down, am I?  Still it got me a front row seat and that's all that mattered!
