He must have got my photo (which he has credited to me) from FB page. There is another from an Italian fan that I posted on there too for her. Hopefully he will speak and we could work together. Always happy to have more links/content for the page.
Yeh great pics of the rats let's hope a lot more people start liking these ( talking to a friend the other day who said they only had 1 hit mondays. I pointed to 11 top40 hits which is more than a lot of groups he was gob smacked and said he didn't know this ) so just shows how people can perceive a band
A few Rats fans have popped up on Tumblr lately, thank god, as it means their tag sees more activity than just people posting Mondays once a week. The same Andy also runs bobgeldof.co.vu/ and there's boomtownrats.tumblr.com/
Hi there! I'm Andy. (I'm a girl, by the way). I actually left a comment of the Facebook page last night when you linked my Rats blog, (it was on my Facebook under my birthname, Andy's what everyone but my family calls me).
I'll tell you all what Tumblr is -- basically it's another social networking site...it's basically a blogging site. People have personal blogs, and they have fanblogs (which is what my Rats blog is). It's a lot more social, open, and free than Facebook is, and the majority if people on Tumblr are all kids like...from 13 to 35. So it's a lot of young people. And when I joined, there wasn't a big fanbase for The Rats, so I decided to do something about that. I collect a lot of memorabilia, I save a lot of photos, and I felt I should share them with people who'd appreciate it, or share it with people who'd then get into The Rats (which a lot of people did, I'm happy to say.) Not only that but there is so little info about The Rats out there ESPECIALLY in the United States where I live, so I wanted to do something about that and make things easier for fans to find.
Anyways, I'm not the sole runner of the blog I run it with a friend Nicole, and she and I are responsible for posting the content. We did post some of your photos from Facebook, if that was overstepping our bounds I'm really sorry. A lot of people on Tumblr don't have Facebook, and we just like to make content available to everyone...so if they don't have Facebook or Twitter, they never miss any news about Bob or The Rats. We do, however, always give credit to the photographers if we have the information available. Unfortunately sometimes we can't find the source and therefore can't give credit, but we don't claim ownership over any of the photos -- the people following the blog are all aware that these are not our personal photos unless we've stated otherwise. Again if it's a problem that I post the photos without asking even though I credit you (if I'm able), please tell me because my intention isn't to steal anything -- my intention is "hey guys, look at this cool picture of Bob from last night!" Also, I should note that not all of the photos I see on your Facebook -- I see them on Google or other places where they aren't credited to, and I try to backtrace the images to find a source but I'm not always lucky. The only time I don't source a photographer is when I absolutely cannot find their info.
So, Jules, I've wanted to get in contact with you for a long time because I thought my Rats blog would be useful to you and the rest of Bob's Facebook fans, but I didn't know how to talk to you on there other than in the comments of things you post and I wasn't going to flood comments with a conversation. But now you all have access to it, it's pretty active for the most part -- Nicole and I are students, I'm 21 and she's 15 so we're busy with school but we try and keep it active. So totally, if you'd want to work together I'd love to. You can get in contact with me on Facebook -- again I made a comment on the link to my blog you posted last night. :)
I post a lot of things from my own collection. I don't like the idea that there are thousands of brilliant old music magazines from the 70's and 80's that are just sitting in a box somewhere collecting dust and not being appreciated, so I like to track them down, buy them, and scan the photos and interviews from them so people can appreciate them...since that's what they were meant for -- for fans to see. That's my belief, anyways.
Anyways, thanks for linking my blog and sharing it with more Rats fans, because that was its whole reason for coming into existence. (Sorry this was so long!)
Hi Andy I had a feeling you might be female . It is usually best to ask the photographer, before taking photos, but I am happy for you to put any of mine up, with credit to me. That's my Bristol picture of Bob recently. That's me. Find me on FB and add me and we can work together. You've got some good stuff on there, people love pictures.
Irene Clayton does Twitter, we work for Bob's management team (voluntarily) to promote his music. We work together (officially). Do you have a Twitter account. You'll find us at @bobgeldoffans on there.
Yeah, I've got a Twitter too @andy_noir, I already follow the page on there. You mustve missed my comment, I guess! ANyways I got your request but that's my private Facebook where I only add people who I know in person, so I'll add you on my public one! Same name, but the profile picture is the picture I have on here :)
Weird. I left it on the facebook post where you posted the link to boomtown-rats. Oh well it's no big deal it was basically just a watered down version of the comment I posted here.

Would just like to say a big thank u to you This is great
You're very welcome! This band means the world to me, they've done so much for me in my personal life and this is the only way I really know how to repay them...by making people more aware of them and sharing them with people who will love them and appreciate them like they deserve. :)

I live on the west coast and they played on the east...like as far away as possible from me. I've never gotten to see them...yet. Next time they come here, if they do, I don't care what it takes I've got to see them. It'd be a dream come true!
Shame. Hopefully they'll return some time. Is there other memorabilia stuff you're after? People on here have loads that could probably be snapped for posterity
Hello! I'm Nicole, the 2nd person who runs that Rats blog. Just wanted to introduce myself here because I heard about the blog being featured on the FB page and everything. It's really neat that you did that, Jules, so I also wanted to thank you for it! It's really exciting to hear that you'd like to work with us...Bob means so much to me and to be part of his fan community is really an honor.
There's nothing specifically...maybe some of the Japanese magazines because those are usually the ones that I have a lot of trouble finding...but pretty much anything!
I wonder who has put all those on there. They were in Lublin last week. Good find.
I thought you'd like it, Jules!
There's loads more by following the link than there was last night, the photos just go on and on. There's clearer versions of ones I'd already seen and slight variations on previously seen shots too. Plus loads of newbies. Fascinating stuff.
Great work, Andy and Nicole, and so pleased you're now linked with Jules and in friendly collaboration with her and Irene who are your UK oppos!
As Mike says, this should all help raise the Rats profile. The more people that can come to appreciate this extraordinary band, the better.
Hi Nicole, please add me too.
It's especially good that you're both so young and are targeting a young audience. Bob would really appreciate that.
Please both post on the link on the FB page to your Tumblr page to introduce yourselves. Hopefully it will stay there. FB does odd things, it's rather irritating.
I agree the popularity of the band is so much better now ( look at1984/5 when they were quite low profile and now) I wishthey would do something big for 40th though as iam sure we all would like

Probably no surprise I've got no Japanese magazines (I can barely get French!) and I think you already loaded the Mondays 7" import cover that was available in UK for a while. Closest I can offer is this live CD sleeve, notable for fact Diamond Smiles starts with the Go Man Go intro, which I guess was unknown to fans at the time.
