Most challenging/difficult album you've ever listened to.

Simple Minds latest album Big Music is a real sruggle for me at the moment.They are stuck between being electronic and Simple Minds as we know them.I just do not get it.The single Honest Town I thought was good but the album rarely gets a play as I struggle with it after a couple of songs.

Probably like most bands Simple Minds have had their 'golden years' when the put out good stuff, and when they reform the results are not that good. Very few band can really keep up with their first half a dozen records. I'd argue that Scott Walker's career has been totally worthwhile since the late sixties (excepting a dodgy cowboy period), and his latter music is rewarding for anyone open to more left field type music.

I'm a big fan of Clinic but their last album was in my opinion their worst. Clinic are pretty out there and experimental though unfortunately they are not that well known outside of indie type circles.

Mondo Bongo. Closely followed by Freaks by Pulp. And despite numerous listens I can't say I care much for either.

I don't persist too much with LPs I don't care for. I got Chelsea Girl by Nico on the back of a couple of Velvets LPs and not sure I even flipped it over to the other side. Not sure I have ever listened to a Bob Dylan LP in its entirety. And to be brutally honest, blur's latest isn't really grabbing me likewise the recent Damon Albarn solo effort. On the other hand, Noel's Angry Birds album is the first I reached for this weekend when I was home alone. It would have been FFS, but I only have the MP3s for that.

I didn't enjoy the new Blur album at all, I found it really boring and had to force myself to listen all the way through. I feel like I should give it another go because I really like Blur

Someone gave me The Times They Are A Changing by Dylan once. He was a big fan and probably assumed I'd like him too. I tried hard, but kept having to stop it and turn it off. Gave it to the charity shop in the end.

I have a few Dylan albums from different eras but whenever I put one on, I just find I tire of it fairly rapidly.

I like some individual Dylan songs. A couple of years back I had Jokerman and Idiot Wind on heavy rotation. Two fantastic songs. I'd like to See Geldof cover Idiot Wind from Blood On The Tracks.

Not sure if you have heard the aborted Andy Partridge sessions with Blur. They were for Modern Life is Rubbish. I need to check them out properly but the couple of songs I did listen to sounded great- though Andy Partridge gave them a heavy sixties psychedelic tinge.

Haven't heard Lou Reed and Metallica but that would be a bit of an ordeal for me. I like Lou Reed but not Metallica or any heavy metal type bands. Maybe Metal Machine Music by Reed is difficult by i haven't heard it, only of it's reputation.

When the promo described Membranes' new album Dark Matter/Dark Energy as "angular post-pink, Krautrock-ish soundscapes and edginess" I thought it was going to be a nightmare, but after a couple of listens I really warmed to it. Same with Perfume Genius' Put Your Back N 2 It - though I was living with my parents at the time and I think my mum considered it akin to water torture.

Like apparently everyone else I've never managed to enjoy more than a few Dylan tracks in a row, an album's almost impossible.

Speaking of Krautrock I tried listening to some Can a few months back. Interesting music but it just goes on and on. Tracks lasting nearly twenty minutes nearly drive me bonkers. Anything over 6 minutes and i start to get impatient.

The single edit for Cans Vitamin C is under 6 mins and is a good intro to their music. Way ahead of Oasis. smile

Sonic Youth's The Diamond Sea was the Midnight Massive on 6Music a few weeks ago, 19 minutes long, totally ridiculous but somehow at that time of night was just the trick

Hunger games soundtrack two taylor swift tracks were fab as was the birdy track every thing else was unlistenable awful tracks should've just done an ep with the 3 tracks on also was bought a 80s compilation never heard of half the artists was like pulling teeth

I thought Simple Minds album Big Music was tough but the acoustic album just does my head in.Just stick an acoustic guitar on all your old classics and kill them and then do a tour with another drummer to spice things up.
