Squeeze have just released a new album (Cradle to the Grave) after 17 years. There is a track on it called "Nirvana" which begins with a very very very similar piano roll as on "I Don't Like Mondays".
Incidently, their album is fantastic and shows that being away for so long needn't mean disappointment. They haven't swayed too far from the classic Squeeze sound. Songs can be heard on new Danny Baker show "Cradle to Grave" which is on BBC2 tomorrow night.
Shows that Bob and the boys could do a new Album and hopefully decide to do it in a similar style to their heyday.

Strikingly similar as to almost be a tribute to the opening bars of Mondays!
Looking forward to this too. Always had a soft spot for Squeeze, particularly in the 90s with such songs as Third Rail, This Summer and Some Fantastic Place which has to be one of the most uplifting pop songs ever. Unfortunately, it limped to 73 like the Rats' single Tonight, proving that chart attainment can often mean nothing in terms of the quality of a single.
the charts have never been a guide to quality. I take them and reviews with a pinch of salt. Your right that Squeeze Some Fantastic Place was a a very uplifting song. Bearing in mind the subject matter was about Tilbrooks first girlfriend dying of cancer. A very emotional lyric about any of us losing somebody, but ultimately very uplifting as you say.

Yes, I read once that Glenn was encouraged to respond to an advert Chris Difford had placed, by said girlfriend. The song stirs something inside me, the lyrics are personal yet many can relate to them.
