just listened to this lp (on headphones) still amazed at what a groundbreaking lp this was it should have fared a lot better than it did still sounds fresh today

i stopped listening to music on headphones a few years ago. I found it was damaging my hearing, so I stopped. You certainly get to hear a lot of little details and 'texture' that you miss without cans on, but it's not worth the price of being half deaf.
I'd imagine A Storm Breaks sound quite good with a good pair of headphones on, and Never In a Million Years too. Lots of stuff going on in that Visconti production on that song.
I also really like The Bitter End.In fact most of the tracks are pretty good and still stand up today. It may not hook in the beginner as much as the debut or Tonic but nonetheless it's well worth the occasional listen.
Bitter End is a great track. I was in my teens when this came out and I remember it was a difficult lp to get hold of for some reason, probably because the Rats were on the decline. However a mate of mine found it on cassette and charged me an arm and a leg to buy it off him!
Yeh I was lucky the store I worked at had it for sale so I got it from there (they weren't the cheapest but convenient) so had it on day of release on lp( nearly got the promo copy but someone else beat me to it) played it to death especially skin on skin which I thought was absolutely fab
