Thanks Jules but only arriving Sunday afternoon - hopefully see some of you in pub/at gig. Would be great to get that pic of Bob if chance to see him after ....

Hope you enjoy the gig in Dublin lisa. I think you're near Southampton. Flybe have a regular service between Dublin and Southampton. I've used it a few times.
Yes looking forward to it and seeing you all there! We are flying from Southampton - but it is more expensive than I thought it would be, though easy to get there anyway.
Just coming over Sunday afternoon and going back on Monday - got the flights booked and the accommodation, though unfortunately booked the hotel before seeing ArrGee's comment about some bells ...
Seems quite mad just going over for one night, but went to see a band (Tankus the Henge) at a pub in Southampton last night and there was a fair crowd who had nipped over from the IOW for the evening!!
I suppose so. I did go to Dublin and Cork and they were two of the best Rats gigs. If they were playing London, I probably wouldn't have bothered. However, it is works out cheaper than seeing bands at The O2 and I live next door to that. There are seats for over Ł180 for U2 next week. I may spend that on my trip to Dublin, but half of it will be on beer
Trouble Pilgrims to support the Rats. Who are they? Any ideas?
Support? pah! That said they have some credentials....
From wikipedia
The Radiators from Space, also known as The Radiators, The Radiators Plan 9, and The Trouble Pilgrims, are an Irishpunk rockband. They have been described as Ireland's first punk band.
Former members Phil Chevron RIP and Cait O'Riordan were also in the Pogues.
This poster was on the Trouble Pilgrims website. The gig is being advertised as 40th anniversary. With Radiators From Space supporting then it should be a sellout.
I nearly did have a ticket for this but hadn't got around to it yet. If I had it would have been on Toutless! One of our new found friends who was at the Cork gig had a ticket to DL/WS but has been converted to the cause and is now coming to The Olympia

As of today street posters have gone up for this gig around Dublin.Well I passed one today so presume they put up more than one. The poster announces the gig as the 40th anniversary.
Also it says that the support band The Trouble Pilgrims are to play the debut album from the Radiators From Space in its entirety. That album was called TV Tube Heart and was released on Chiswick in 1977.
I checked yesterday and tickets were still available.

Is it the same as the poster you put up before?
yes it's basically the same poster, except for it states that The Trouble Pilgrims will be performing all of the album TV Tube Heart and makes this a bit of an extra selling point for the gig. I presume they have put up posters around Dublin, one of those paste up jobs that might be a bit old fashioned by equally has street cred(well literally as it's on a street hoarding)
I need to get a new camera but might get a pic of one sometime soon.
I wonder given it's the 40th Anniversary show if Gerry Cott and Fingers may put in an appearance also? To see all six original Rats up there would be sublime!
We thought it was rather late too. Guess the doors are open at 7 pm?
Standing in the pit for two and a half hours pre-gig is about 150 minutes too long for me. I think I will head into the venue at about 8pm and take my chances with the masses. Also might be easier to move to the back and make a quick exit to Brogan's whilst Diamond Smiles and the eponymous song are played.

It's not as though you won't be able to see anything like some of us.

I wouldn't be shocked if Gerry Cott appeared as it is just a hop over the sea and he has been to at least three Rats and Geldof gigs in the last few years. Probably not got that much film work now Harry Potter has stopped filming.
Johnnie Fingers would have to make a big trip from Japan. I don't think he would do it just to make a cameo so I think it is unlikely.
And if you ain't got a ticket, you ain't getting in...
The Olympia Theatre ‏@olympiatheatre · Dec 3
This Sunday's show #BoomtownRats & @TroublePilgrims is now completely sold out, sorry no more tickets available!
Have a great time everyone. Desmond did his best in 1980 to let people see the Rats play in Dublin and with any luck, Desmond will not stop people getting there in 2015!
In fact, I'm sure the Rats will go down a storm.....look forward to hearing about it
