I know, Costello pretty much refuses to play it.  I am aware of the other reason, but when he does play it live it is begrudging.

I saw him back in 1980. Very, very good, from what I can remember.

Coming home last night,  we put Sounds of the 80s on and Back on the Chain Gang was playing by the Pretenders. Good, catchy, feel good piece of 80s nostalgia...

Cost me £68 (including fees)  for a seat in 8th row at Palladium for this back in 2016.

Next year he wants £113 plus including  for similar at Hammersmith Eventim Apollo.  I'm out.

I am amazed that people are paying well over £100 to see Elvis Costello.  I have seen him three times in recent years at Albert Hall (£45 - 6th row on aisle) , Roundhouse (£55 - standing) and Palladium (£65 - 8th row on aisle).  In fact the Albert Hall gig was well below capacity as they closed off the circle.

Only costing me £40 to see Rats and Happy Mondays next summer.  A total bargain in comparison.
