Back at Olympia again, but most likely a shorter set (or it will be a very long night).
The Boomtown Rats have joined April 7's Rock Against Homelessness line-up in the Dublin Olympia. Already confirmed are HamsandwicH, Finbar Furey, The Blizzards, Delorentos, Paul Cleary, Ivy Nations, August Wells , and homeless musician Danny Bracken who'll joined by Paul Brady and Dave Fleming
They have been confirmed as the headline act ie topping the bill. To be honest I think I'll skip this one. With so many on the bill even the top act will most likely have to do a shortish set.
Another thing is that 1700 people forking out 30 euros is just a sticking plaster for an Irish government problem/Dublin city housing problem. Is it really going to do much when you think about it. Calll me cynical and you'd be right. It'll help a little but it's just peanuts in the scheme of things. Then again the bands are sort of doing this to highlight the problem so that puts some pressure on the Government to do something, which is what will really count.
PS I am also now posting as Noel via phone/FB log in.

A Band Aid perhaps?
When I worked in Dublin a few years ago there were hundreds of empty properties. particularly out in Park West where I worked. I read that there are about a dozen empty houses/apartments in Dublin for every homeless person. About 50,000 for the 7,000 or so homeless people. Seems incredible with so much stock there is a problem, but I suspect developers would rather bulldoze them down than provide affiordable homes.
