Southampton date is within a day of A Tonic for the Troops entering the charts.
All the dates seem to be Rewind/Let's Rock 80s retro days which should attract a fair amount of Primark wearers...
...if Clapham was a fortnight earlier I would go, but I suspect I will be on vacation. And by the time I know the tickets will have gone up by £20. Maybe I will win a VIP pass!
I see there is another gig for the Boomtown Rats this year. Its another festival for them. Its in Gibraltar and the festival is the MTV presents Gibraltar Calling music festival. The dates are Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of September. The festival takes place at the Victoria football stadium.

OK, thanks for confirming. Shame - fancied a few days somewhere different .. Can't say I'm that interested in any of the venues really, or the dates don't suit. Am almost looking back with nostalgia at the days of the Rats a few years back before they made it Boomtown again. OK, there were a lot of gigs that didn't happen, but in another way there seemed a lot more going on and a lot more to get excited about. Ho hum ...

The last couple of summers have been pretty meh (Brentwood excepted - shame I missed that) and this summer doesn't look too exciting either. I haven't seen Rats since 2015 as like you, venues and dates don't work. Oh and the other acts on the bill also keep me away. It was more exciting from 2013-2015 and even before they went back to Boomtown, I remember a great night in Dublin at the end of 2012.
I suppose there is the chance the album may eventually appear and who knows they may do some proper gigs early next year. Anyway they are back this weekend in Northern Ireland https://www.facebook.com/HolywoodHarmonyFestival/ Expect the usual shenanighans about fake snake skin suits and comments on the dress sense of the audience, though how anyone could ever be insulted by Geldof on that count is beyond me.
I think both of these should be good because they are a bit off the beaten track, and should bring out enough locals to make them a success. Also they are both weekend gigs.

got my tickets for Sligo, who else on this forum is going?
Crikey - a blast from the past How are things?
I am off to see Tom Robinson in Shepherd's Bush that night, but truth be told my days of flying to Ireland (or anywhere for that matter) for gigs are over. Can just about get enough enthusiasm to go on the Central line. Can't even be bothered to change trains
I thought a few days in Ireland might be nice for a change.Hadn't seen the rats for a while because they only seem to do festivals at the moment. If they do a full tour to promote the new album i will definitely go to that.
