Both of these are off, but Frankfurt still on sale.

  • Friday 19 January 2018 Pier 2, Bremen, Germany
  • Saturday 20 January 2018 Sporthalle Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany

Suprised that Bremen is off,the place was only a couple of thousand big and the tickets were selling well enough for the gig to go ahead.

I have just translated a German site  saying that the Rats had to cancel the 20 January gig in Hamburg, 'because they are in the middle of  work for  a new album'. Hope this helps.

This is the translation from Online Focus Hamburg: (Google Translation)

Saturday, 16.12.2017, 15:20

In their most famous song, The Boomtown Rats around front man Bob Geldof claim "I Do not Like Mondays". It seems like they do not like unfinished records either.

Because, as the band informs, they are in the middle of the work for their new album - so the musicians can not play the concert in the sports hall on January 20.

Bitter: The show should have taken place last March but was postponed because of "internal planning conflicts". Now there is no new appointment and tickets can be returned to the ticket agencies. Let's hope that at least the album will be finished.

If that is the case I guess Frankfurt won't be happening either. (though it remains on sale)  Even in that translation I can detect the cynicism!

FWIW My belief is poor ticket sales are the root cause...

I doubt they would know anymore than is on the internet.  Always found it a puzzling page myself.  Just seems to post snippets of lyrics of songs and gets umpteen comments and likes.

Tell me, why?

(no - please don't)

Those random lyrics just seem to be generated by computer. You'd have gotten more info by writing in to the fanclub back in the Seventies, and waiting a month for a reply!

I never joined the fan ckub but they were nice enough to sort out the inner sleeve of my Boomtown Rats LP which I didn't get when I purchased it.  Shame I never got or knew of the Silent Night flexi disc at the time.

Sounding Like a Broken Record :  My belief is poor ticket sales are the root cause...

... a lot of festival dates lined up for this summer in the UK though. But even they are prone to cancellation.

Fed up with the album delays and festival announcements. Proper tour needed and firm news on the album. All the rest is froth and Facebook prattle.
