Thanks for the link Mark. I know we differ on this song. To me it is one of their best and one of my favorites. Pity this version is just the record rather than a live take, but still good to see the band in classic line up, and one more for the archives.
The song is ok IMHO but as I watch TOTP 1985, it just feels like it would never have been a hit and certainly not as 4th out of the traps as it were. However we do strongly agree on the brilliance of Million Years and as first track from V Deep it is bewildering it only reached 62, no matter how much progress the New Romantics had made throughout 1981. If they had only released Skin on Skin instead of Charmed Lives then rereleased Million Years on the back of Skin's success....
I agree love skin on skin managed to get a 12 inch of this (us import) still can only wonder what might have been if they had charted with million years love all tracks off itlg apart from up or down but hey that's only my opinion superb album should have been massive let's hope we don't have to wait long for mega to come out till then I'm playing a lot f live concert recordings from 78germany up to cortona2017

Agree with you totally there Mark, when I very first played the album I thought Skin On Skin was such an obvious single release to make and couldn't believe it didn't happen. It still sounds fresh today
I think there was some concern about the subject nature of Skin on Skin, but they should have been courageous as the brilliance of the track would have shone through. Rather like IDLM, which shone through despite controversial lyrical content.
