Geldof on TOTP

As the Rats won't be appearing on any more re-runs, Geldof turns up on a re-run scheduled for Friday.

Think it is just a promo rather than a studio appearance.  Coming to BBC iPlayer soon

Suspect this is a brief snippet of the video as part of 'breakers' showing the single rising relatively briskly from 34 to 25. A full studio performance took place a week later when the song stalled at 25. Rather surprisingly, a further week later, the TOTP performance only saw the single drop out of the top 30.

Not sure we will see the studio performance. Mike Smith hosted TOTP that week and his family  I seem to recall, have requested no transmission of his TV performances.

That week is excluded,  but what's the deal with Mike Smith?  The Bungee death?

Amazed they can veto the whole episode, can't they just edit him out?  Have a different voice over?

Seems family may be respecting his own wishes.

Amazed the presenter has such sway.   There are plenty of mega rock stars on the show down the years with no say at all.

Disruption to go on until 1988. If the series continues, we will next see Bob in 1990 with the GSOI. He must be in a relatively small group of people who were on the show with top 20 hits in the 70s  80s and 90s?!

We are now up to 1989 with the likes of Simon Mayo, Nicky Campbell, Anthea Turner and Gary Davies now regularly presenting TOTP. The Great Song of Indifference will turn up later this year. Think Nicky Campbell presented the song.

At present Black Box are number one with Ride on Time, 10 years since Mondays. The single was a chart success in many countries, topping the charts in Ireland and the United Kingdom. It chart-topped for six weeks and was the best selling single of 1989.
