Went to this. If you ignore the dinner and bubbly it would work out about 70 euro per track!!

Setlist was originally Close As You'll Ever Be, She's So Modern, Like Clockwork, Do You In, Mondays, Someone's Looking at you, Mary, Rat Trap, The Boomtown Rats but as a bonus, due in part to organiser jumping up to say thanks too soon when Rat Trap finished and thus interrupting the final track intro, they improvised and added Diamond Smiles before the finale song. Well received though. Right up there with the Mayfair gig for best dressed audience.

... was considering going to Baku next week, but too far outside the M25 for me. And like this far too expensive (over £1000). I am gonna get my kicks this weekend at Wembley with a £12.50 ticket to watch the mighty Os take over Wembley.

Handy pay day for the band even if audience look like they aint got a clue what is happening.

Great pics suss look like they were on great form. Bob looks like the one we remember from the 80s just grey haired now (ain't we all) glad to see them still rocking maybe hope for new album after all

No firm updates on the album I'm afraid but still gearing up for it.

Blimey, at this rate Brexit will have happened quicker... Eagerly awaiting the album and a few affordable gigs sometime soon hopefully before we all have to use zimmer frames to attend and hearing aids to listen!

Haha, yes Mark! Or a silence shrieking volumes .... I don't know, just be nice to have something to look forward to after all these years. A bit disappointing really, it was so fun and engaging following the Rats in my teenage years, and then in their diluted form a while back. Just feels a bit empty now, ho hum! Maybe I should take up gardening or something...

A silence shrieking volumes sums it up and is better than Senior Citizens of Boomtown!

I feel old these days ~ when someone at work says doing anything at the weekend I nowadays usually say cutting the lawn, decorating, visiting relatives etc. I find this happening more frequently these days........

I have found Jarv Is. Very handy as most gigs are in nearby Hackney. Jarvis even indulged in a spot of crowd surfing over us yesterday. Beats travelling to Poland

I have also found Orient which is handy as I can walk to that. Beats travelling to Baku.

Must be nearly 4 years since I saw Rats. My garden is looking better than it did then

Well yes there are other amusements to indulge in ... I go to a film society now - with my glasses so that I can read the subtitles as it is "world cinema", and even go to the theatre, get me, I'm getting so cultured in my old age

And off to see Toyah tonight which I'm hoping will be a good experience and not an anti climax. I guess I hanker after the frisson of being young and enjoying the newness and vitality of the Rats and how it made you feel during their rise to stardom. And I got such a kick out of finding them again and going to gigs in my 40s, and wanting everyone else to see the magic too. And now I do feel the long wait for an album and tour to promote it is a bit too much and they've missed the boat. I mean I'll still be excited to see and hear it all, but despite reports of youngsters watching them at festival gigs, I do feel they have limited appeal now. And whilst I get the need for the corporate gigs it is perhaps unlikely to really garner them much of a new fanbase. Anyway just being a grumpy old woman, but it's that need to share it with others (apart from this site) and feel a certain validation from having supported them over the years! I don't know obviously what will feature in the new album, but wow there has just been so much potential material that could have been covered due to the current political situation. However, now everyone's probably so pissed off by it all, that they wouldn't want to hear any more about it! Anyway we will see ... As Toyah would say, It's a mystery!

But yes it's nice to be back on here again - I used to have a dull office job so would always sidetrack myself and come on here, but now I work as an invigilator so obviously opportunities are limited! Glad you all have lovely gardens now

Unfortunately even if I had absolutely nothing else to do, I can't say I'd be any more interested in housework!

Ah yes, I am so old now but I vaguely remember seeing the Rats in my 40s in 2013. Might be in my 60s the next time I see them! And probably will be when the LP is released.

Going back on topic, isn't is surprising there are NO 2019 dates apart from the Polish corporate show?

Last thing we need is Geldof preaching to us about Brexit in the guise of a Rats album. Much prefer if it's like ITLG with a wide palette of songs and varied subject matter. Political songs will just drive a wedge between any remaining goodwill Geldof and the Rats may retain. Just look at all the ex-rats fans posting comments on YouTube about how the used to love the band but nowadays can't stand Geldof Brexit showboating.

I don't want Bob preaching about Brexit but some well observed one liners knocking the establishment are always welcome - to me at least. I personally find ITLG dreary. Much prefer the energy and passion of the first three albums.

Doing the corporate gig is fine, but this must be the first year since 2008 when there have been NO gigs or festival appearances. And given there is supposed to be a new LP, it seems odd that they have gone totally off radar. There were at least a dozen in each of the last 5 years.

That'll make him an equal opportunities 'knocker' then, after dissing all the Primark/TK Maxx pleb fans. Many would argue that Geldof is part of the establishment . For what it's worth I don't feel ITLG lacks passion e.g. Hard Times, Drag Me Down, Over Again (vastly underrated) or A Hold of Me to just name a few songs. You can lead a horse to water etc....

On a lighter note I've always liked Thunder in the Mountains by Toyah,mad eighties song and video. They don't make 'em like that anymore alas.

We're probably looking at some late summer or Autumn action. Just odd that there's no synchronicity to capitalise on the 40th anniversary of their biggest hit around August time.Any other big act with the same amount of hits would to booked for a Glastonbury appearance or some of the top festivals.

Maybe one offs like Sligo and Wexford last year, but I doubt there will be any gigs this year after a summer of inactivity.

I can't understand why we haven't heard anything after the original announcement about 2019album and how quiet they have been onto gig front still you never know (I know I'm ever the optimist)
