Not sure if this Geldof/Fingers penned epic was the best song of 79 or the 20th best in the opinion of the Independent........

 It's just their opinion...you could swap Clash for Rats above and not many would disagree. 

I think officially Mondays was the 6th best selling single of 79 so 20th is a bit off

Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel was the UK best seller.  But that doesn't make it the best song of the year.

The Clash didn't make top 10 with London Calling. But I think it is one of the top 20 of that year.  FWIW Oliver's Army would be my selection.
