Fantastic. Simon always gives great considered and thoughtful replies in interviews. A great foil to Bob's sweeping generalisations about politics and music. Great to love a band where all the members are really articulate and great to listen to.
Simon is really good to talk to about the Rats. Had a couple of extended conversations with him prior to the 2013 reunion at 100 club and at breakfast in Dublin. Very friendly and good company. Thats not to say the others arent, but I havent spoken to any of the rest for any length and not at all in the case of Pete Briquette. Nor Fingers.

Simon: 'Geldof can be a pain in the ass sometimes' . Think he implied that Bob's charity shop inspiration for Trash Glam Baby was a bit fanciful and exaggerated as well. I'd file under 'based on a true story'.
I'm the sort of person who would avoid meeting heroes in real life. I've no interest in going to the Rats movie premier with all those celebrities present. Years of listening to the records is enough for me.
I've briefly met Bob, Simon , Pete and Garry at or after gigs. I'm just a fan and happy to worship them from afar. Sometimes you read about rock stars sleighting fans after gigs. Most likely they are tired. Sometimes they may not feel like rock stars and can be bemused about all the fawning.

Me too. Our chats just happened. First cos I was hanging around drinking after 100 club gig and second cos Simon & Darren joined Suss and me at breakfast.
Only superstar hero I ever approached was Charlie George when I played at Highbury before they turned it into flats, and he turned out to be a really good bloke. Arguably my then six year old son was chatting to him more!
Net them at Aston 1983 after gig in students bar very nice bunch lads just said hello and said enjoying gig that was about only time but remember it well
Nice interview, got a lot of time for Simon Crowe. Don't hear much of him, always great when we do. Adds so much to the sound, vocal wise as well as drums. Great to hear an Autumn tour in the offing too!
