Great Rolling Stone piece, giving some more insight to the reunion.

I read that a few days ago. Feel really sorry for Simon. He was broke, hadn't been much in contact with Bob. I'd imagine it would have been really difficult to ask Geldof for money.

Interesting too about Geldof wanting to play guitar only to be told to forget it by Garry. Glad Garry got his way as Geldof is better moving around the stage rather than being hampered by having said instrument to play.

Possibility of European tour and unlikely any American dates. I think that could change with the documentary as it goes into detail about why the Rats never really broke the US market back in the seventies. It hopefully will get some promoters in the states thinking these guys should be given another chance, but that's just a hunch I have. I think the documentary should rekindle interest in the Rats and make people realise they were as good if not better than most of their punk and new wave contemporaries both in Britain and the USA.

I agree with every word of this, Noel. Nice to think Bob respected Garrys view and was big enough to take the advice. It is a group of equals after all, whereas back in 84, Bob would whip the guitar out on occasion on tour and I doubt would have been as receptive to such suggestions.
